This is a super important topic imho because many beginners completely underestimate or outright ignore the value of printing. To me, printing is literally the other side of photography. Sure, posting things on social media is nice, but it's only in prints that photography truly comes to life.

to highlight an implied point you made: paintings / non-realism in the same room is a great compliment to photography, unless it’s a gallery, mixing media is always the way, imo. Great work on that room!

The look on your face when you see your print for the first time is priceless. I do the same, despite the fact that we are the people that took the shot and are amazed by the result :)

I don't even care that this basically could be rated as a commercial video, because sometimes doing something not just requires a good thought process but also a product. Thank you for sharing both here!

Being able to move in a dream house near a lake and decorate my home with my own photos is just a dream come true

The prints look great Simon, there’s nothing like seeing your work hanging on a wall… Your wife looks to be talented too… 👍🇬🇧

I've been intrigued by taking pictures for 20 years. For the last year or so I'm intrigued by being am amateur PHOTOGRAPHER! I think there is a distinguishable difference. I cannot get enough of your videos and you've been very helpful to a guy like me who self proclaims I've got no idea what I'm doing. Thank you for your content.

Your photos look so good! I realize that if I am ever going to be a real artist, I must find the beauty in even mundane spaces, but- also, and this is the excitement of photography, go to the places that are so beautiful. I remember your video of making things happen no matter if the subject shows up, the trip is cancelled, or some other obstacle comes along. You just find something exceptional and shoot it and make another masterpiece. I love the colors in the living room, the incredible subject matter, and all your videos!

FANTASTIC choice for a video topic!! There are not enough of these being made by professional photographers (that is the essence here)!! I learned a lot. You even had me going around my house looking at my own artwork on the walls only to say "I should have gone portrait in shape", etc. Thank you....I learned a lot from this!!

I've been an output professional from the early days of Gilcee prints. Since semi-retirement I've been a dodler photographer, my layers sister in-law wanted some note cards of some flowers and birds. I arranged it for her and was pleasantly satisfied, (not something done easily) thanks for the inspiration!

Another take on hanging art is to get your own photo printer and experiment on the printing side. You can get an A3+ printer without breaking the bank, and I have found printing to be another enjoyable aspect of photography. They won't blow you away like these acrylics from Whitewall and will be smaller of course, but it makes you edit photos in a different way to suit the environment they will be sat in. I took inspiration from Pete Souza's book on being Obama's photographer, and he used to rotate pictures in the Whitehouse every so often. I have started doing the same in my house, and for the ones that get put in a drawer it becomes a nice and tactile way to show pictures to visitors instead of showing your wider portfolio on a screen.

For the frames, you can mass buy cheap ones and try painting them. Also experiment with a glossy glass (or acrylic) or leaving that out and hanging a matte print.

Simonsafes metric measurements! Wow! I'm delighted. Thank you so much.
I haven't printed any pictures on acrylic, but the thicker the acrylic, the more depth the picture gets. The difference between 3 and 6mm was terrific.

A little synchronicity in life Simon, no bull, I just got back from my local print shop to look at the results of a landscape shot I captured last October. The fall colours will work well in my living room. We decided to print on canvas and mount in a floating frame. This is one of those moments in life when you get to really see your own work come to fruition. What a great feeling. I always look forward to and enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing. 🙏 In just a few days I will get to live with one of my favourite shots and I think one of my best, if I do say so myself. Cheers. Oh, this is the shot you gave me some feedback on last fall. My sincerest thanks to you.
