What if the Aurora Crashed in Sector 0?

Would Al-An have downloaded himself into an infected body though? The whole reason he put himself in storage was his old body was fatally infected and storing himself was the only path to long term survival. Maybe given the choice of quick death by power failure or slightly less quick death by Kharaa he’d pick the latter, but then his primary focus would probably be recharging the energy cells keeping the sanctuary running and going back into storage.

If the Sea Emperor contacted Riley with Al-An in his brain they would probably be able to talk directly using Riley’s consciousness as a bridge but then there’s the question of whether the Sea Emperor would even contact you considering she refused to help the precursors.

Fun little thing too, with no aurora in the crater, the hole from the surface to the lava zone would still be open, making things simpler

This does lead to all sorts of interesting possiblities Butterfly effect style: The distance from the gun may have given Captain Hollister more time to maneuver the ship so he and officers Keen and Yu might've lasted muich longer. They could've rescued Ozzy from the cafeteria. Jochi Khasar might not've become a pancake, Berkley might've been saved by Albert the drone and Danby could've lived long enough to regret cheating his way through medical school.

The biggest plot hole in Below Zero (one of many) is that Maida and Al-An are squeezed into the same relatively small part of Sector Zero for over a decade before Alterra, Ryley or Robin arrive, yet the two seem blissfully unaware of each other’s presence.

Frankly, I think Riley would just have to settle in as Marg's annoying neighbor.
+Al-An: Would he voluntarily put himself in an infected body, or risk building a new one only to get infected immediately by the person helping him? Probably not. So Al-An is out, for assistance.
+Marg: I doubt she knew which way she was drifting on the reaper, or how far she traveled, so she wouldn't be able to even give any useful information to get to the crater. Further, she didn't know what was down deeper, because their habitat at 500m is where she was separated from the other two. They never got to the deeper facilities.
+Emperor: I don't imagine she spent all of her time telepathically scanning the world, or she might have contacted any of the Degasi members, to get them to come to her. This seemingly did not happen. I bet she only scanned out and found Riley, because of the double shakes of the Aurora crash and explosion, telling her something was different.

On the other hand, more of the lifepod survivors may have actually survived. Given how many taken out by crater-specific predators. I doubt warpers were everywhere, because I doubt the facility could manage to make enough of them to patrol a whole planet, and they don't appear in all biomes, even though Kharaa-infected animals do. And at least three survivors were probably specifically killed by reapers.
