I have visited Acropolis and spent a day to look around Parthenon and Dionysius theatre. Parthenon is a miraculous creation by Greeks. I bought a book in that museum. But presentation of this documentary is fabulous. But they could furnish more details about this creation.

While I appreciate the fact that this documentary is here, you should change the title to NOVA documentary, since it's not BBC.

A quick search on the Web, reveals the Mr. Nikos Toganidis, is in charge of the Parthenon Restoration Project. The film makers, however, chose to set scenes that portray two women as if they were in charge of most of the work and give very little air time (in comparison) to the real person in charge. Why do they choose to do it that way? Why do they choose to portray reality in such a biased way, instead of portraying reality more accurately? Why do they impose political agendas on this kind of topic instead of setting the focus on the science, on the historical facts and not on gender wars? Get your own conclusions about the quality of this information we are getting.

The whole idea of this restoration is entirely idiotic - it is dentistry on a grand scale and unnecessary. The heart of the building is its design, not its matter. They should have restored it in the sense of reconstructing it carefully, which would have a much more correct and beautiful result than the silly puzzle of old and new bits put together. One of these ridiculous modernist ideas about authenticity, thinking that the material thing represents its authenticity instead of its spirit and idea: its design. An architectural monument is not its materials but its creation, its design, its structure.

In Japan they are ancient temples made of brittle wood which are completely rebuilt every 30 years, bit by bit. And they are still the same temples.
