"Dockworkers at ports from Maine to Texas began walking picket lines early Tuesday in a strike over wages and automation that could reignite inflation and cause shortages of goods if it goes on more than a few weeks.

The contract between the ports and about 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association expired at midnight, and even though progress was reported in talks on Monday, the workers went on strike. The strike affecting 36 ports is the first by the union since 1977."

Nice to see someone give an honest report of what is going on. Our union has been demonized by the media

Corporations keep making record-breaking profits, pay CEOs tens of millions of dollars in salary, benefits ad bonuses, and spend billions in stock buybacks and company acquisitions. But the second workers demand better working conditions, better pay, and batter benefits, corporations cry bankruptcy.

If I were the union president I would throw that question right back her stating, "do you know how much these greedy CEOs and corporations are hurting everyday americans."

This reporter is immediately annoying. Stop demonizing the workers. PAY THEM. GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT. FFS

If they are so important, PAY THEM PROPERLY! I'm so tired of workers getting blamed for the consequences of corporate greed.

I’ve worked in logistics in transportation almost my entire adult career. I’ve worked with drivers who deliver and pick up from ports and our blue collar workers run this country PERIOD. When I worked in retail transport I used to call my drivers Santa Claus because they got the stuff everyone puts under their trees to the stores. I LOVE blue collar workers. They work long hours. Give these guys what they want. Sounds like the pay across the board is really unbalanced and they want to ensure AI isn’t going to decimate their jobs. I’m an average American citizen and they aren’t hurting me. I hope they get fair wages and benefits. GOOD FUH THEM!

This dude is fired up! That’s what we need to see. Americans deserve to be fairly compensated for their efforts. Corporate greed needs to be bluntly checked regularly.

These workers deserve what they are asking for. These CEOs and owner gathering all this profits and buying themselves cars, homes, planes, and if it wasn't for these worker they wouldn't be able to have all those, Why these workers have to go on strike before these greedy CEOs realize that the workers deserve a raise
