My whole house took 30 days. It really is okay to take your time

There’s also this thing called one in, one out. Whatever clothes you bring in, you must get rid of that many items you bring in. It really helps with that mental process and so you don’t have to do this big clean again!! It helps with my anxiety doing that!

I’ve seen SO many videos of people half-assing this process to avoid confronting the amount they have (which is a hugely important part of the process). Kudos to you for doing the harder and ultimately more valuable thing. ❤️

I wish my family would just let things go. I’m tired of them hoarding things they will never use. I’m a clean freak & I love the Konmari method..

I love that you show it can be an emotional process. That’s so real

When you started to almost cry, I felt that - I went through this process in January 2019 and it took me A YEAR to purge all my stuff and sell all the things I wanted to sell. There were times I was so sick of seeing my stuff, even after taking bags and bags to the charity shop and throwing stuff away, it took a good six months before I started seeing progress. It was so worth it, my room is amazing now

Whenever you reach the stage in life when you’re moving a lot (I’m 25 and have moved annually since 18), you will fall in love with the perks of a streamlined wardrobe. Clothes are heavy and bulky to move!

We’re all different and there’s no ideal amount of clothing that suits everyone, but the quantity you showed in this video seems to leave you neck-deep in stress. Stick with it, notice what factors added up to this quantity of clothing in your life, give yourself permission to be a picky shopper, and celebrate the pieces that DO make you feel amazing!

I learned the hard way not to put the piles of stuff on my bed because I never finished in one day and then I had no where to sleep lol.

I read her 1st book a year ago and started the 2nd book. This method literally changed my life. I have drawers that are empty. What really got me to do a complete overhaul was when I picked up my tablet case and realized nothing about it brought me joy. It's like the little bulb turned on and it became easier for me to toss out the things that distracted me from the things I truly loved!

I know it’s a process and it’s hard. But honestly I still fold my clothes in my drawer like that and it’s been over a year now. It’s so much cleaner and makes it easier to see your clothing!

At the instro I was like "that make-up! the best I ever saw" and in the next clip I was like "Wow, you are even more pretty without make-up!"

DO A PART 2! Every time I go through my closet I first will bring stuff to platos or style encore, then I’ll either sell on posh if it’s worth something and then donate lol I have my processes and I have to go through this atleast twice a year

Awesome video! I can’t wait to see how the room comes together. Just a quick tip though:
I highly suggest you fully sorting your items into your donate, sell, and keep piles before trying to put things away. Putting the clothes away when you’re not done sorting yet makes the process much longer, and tires you out much faster.

I’m happy you’re finally doing this! Every time I watch your cleaning videos, I’ve thought about leaving a comment about how decluttering excess stuff would really help you keep a tidy room. I got into minimalism a couple of years ago, and although I don’t consider myself a minimalist, I’ve become WAY more intentional with my belongings and have gotten rid of SO much stuff. It feels so good owning only what adds value to your life. Anyway, don’t be discouraged. It takes time, and if you’re unsure of wherever you should keep an item, put it away for now. Chances are the next time you declutter, you’ll realize you didn’t miss it. Biggest thing for me is to just stop accumulating stuff, and being considerate of what items I bring into my life. I’m so happy with how my home is now, that I have to ask myself if the item is really worth bringing into it. I used to be supper messy and had a crap-ton of stuff, but now my home stays tidy and clean at almost all times. Even my shirts stay folded like that 😅

And yes, please do a series on this!

P.S. if you’re looking for inspiration/motivation, I recommend listening to The Minimalists podcast while decluttering ✌🏻

This method is serious therapy and if you are truly ready for it and enter into it mindfully and stay present while you do it, it’s transformative. You won’t ever go back to mindless accumulation of things. I love watching these videos now and again because it is like a celebration of my liberation from so many layers of accumulated emotional debris. I will forever be thankful for KonMari and it will forever be a part of me. I was cheering you on and remembering how emotional this process was for me. 💕🙏🏻
