That was the legendary Chaka Khan with him. She is a treasure.

Chaka Khan! She's the backing vocalist! Try "Ain't Nobody" or "I Feel for You" on Female Friday!

This was the high point of MTV, and this was well played. Winwood is definitely an icon. People were always surprised by his voice. Very soulful.

The entire Higher Love album was a masterpiece.

How about "Back In The High Life Again" "Valeri" "Gimmie Some Lovin'" "Roll With It" "While You See A Chance"

The woman backing up Steve is Chaka Khan. Take the dive into her early work from the 1970's like "Tell Me Something Good" (with Rufus) and "I'm Every Woman" Yeah, she did it before Whitney; it was her first solo hit without Rufus. Then her 1980's songs like "I Feel for You" and "Ain't Nobody" (also with Rufus). "I Feel for You" may help you understand why people sing her name. "Chaka Khan Chaka Khan" I think it might be only on the official music video and that's the one you should listen to. It's a cover of a Prince song but that "Chaka Khan" opening is why I think of it as her song.

Not only a brilliant singer and musician, he is one of the greatest songwriters. There is a great live version of "can't find my way home" where he is just sitting in front of the fire on his farm. That's as pure as it gets!

Steve Winwood is a legend - he started playing/performing when he was only 14. You must take a deep dive into his group Traffic (John Barlycorn, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys) and many of his other hits including a song called Valerie (not the Amy Winehouse song), When You See A chance, The Finer Things, and from the Spencer Davis Group Gimme some Lovin. Super, super talented - so glad you've discovered him! And Chaka Kahn is a legend!! Definitely do her on Female Friday.

"Back In the High Life" is a wonderful song and no, it's not about getting buzzed.

Honest mistake... but when you gave props to "the horns" around 6:44, :45 or so... THAT was actually CHAKA KHAN'S voice! Yep... she is known for her incredible vocal range and her "wails" which sound like horns.

Chaka Khan is amazing! My favorite is "I Feel For You". Also you can't miss "I;m Every Woman" or "Aint Nobody" She is a powerhouse of personality and pure natural talent. You maybe see one or two like her in a generation.

Steve is a very humble dude who still sings in his church choir every Sunday when he is not on the road.

Yeah, Winwood is a bonafide legend. He hit it big with Spencer Davis Group’s Gimme Some Lovin’ when he was only 18. He played with Clapton in Blind Faith (Can’t Find My Way Home). He jams with Hendrix on Voodoo Chile. He hit it big again with Traffic (Dear Mr. Fantasy and Low Spark of High-heeled Boys), then again with his solo career!

you need to go back to the 1960s with this guy, one of the most amazing voices of classic rock. He was 15 years old when his band Spencer Davis Group had hits like Gimme Some Lovin, he was with the band Blind Faith with ERic Clapton, then with the band Traffic. so much talent

I love Steve and the amazing Chaka Khan! I can’t believe you guy don’t know Chaka! You obviously don’t know Tina Turner either if you thought that was her! These are two phenomenal female icons of music! Mind blown!!😮😮

Steve actually performed with his Father and older brother Muff at 8 yrs old. When they played in bars and taverns, they would turn the piano towards the crowd so Steve was hidden from the crowd. He joined The Spencer Davis group at age 14, he's 73 now. In the tribute to George Harrison "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" where Prince showed his tremendous guitar skills, Steve was in the back, the white dude on piano. 🤔🤗😎

Thats Chaka Kahn! She was with a group called Rufus. Then later she went out on her own. She's a great candidate for F.F.! You might like "Tell me Somethin' Good"
