people with ocd normally complete activities multiple times as they think that something bad will happen. for example, in this video they are washing their hands. they could be thinking that if they do not wash their hands 5 times they will catch a disease or something

My grandma had OCD which was very severe. She used to wash her hand 25 times with soap, then 50 times with water and again 25 times with soap. Everybody used to laugh at her but only i understood what she went through because soon after her death i had been diagnosed with OCD too. I wish my family members would understand... 😢😢😢

OCD isn't always about cleaning or repetition or organization. I have it and it manifests as constant intrusive thoughts and skin picking. OCD looks different for everyone, but it's not just about flicking light switches and hand washing.

My mum has OCD and she has the cleaning obsession where she needs to clean things constantly on repeat. She also locks doors at least 5-10 times per day to "make sure" no one gets into the house. It's why we have 5-7 locks on nearly every door in the house and if ONE is not locked she will go through the whole house again to check. It's really draining to live with someone with OCD but you have to follow their habits or it will drive them insane...my heart goes out to those who have OCD or has a loved one that has it.

For those of you that don’t know OCD is OCD obsessions are repeated, persistent and unwanted thoughts, urges or images that are intrusive and cause distress or anxiety. You might try to ignore them or get rid of them by performing a compulsive behavior or ritual. These obsessions typically intrude when you're trying to think of or do other things(researched)

Ocd is always Portrayed as a disorder relating to cleanliness but i would like to tell that OCD is so vast and has so many subtypes
Ocd is basically having a compulsion do to something it can be washing hands, checking doors or having thoughts and not being able to control them

as someone with ocd, it’s very hard for me to describe what it’s like. if i dont do something right the first time, or a certain amount of times, something bad will happen. like there’s this little voice in my head saying “if you don’t do 5 times, no one will love you”. thank you for the video

I have OCD and I have an organizing obsession where I can’t stop until it’s done if you want to know how it feels it feels like your trapped in an illusion where you have to stay organized and you get this disturbing angry feeling when something isn’t 😊

I have ocd, it not about cleaning every time
. It's about having strange fear and obsession and doing something ridiculous to get rid of it or to get it.. Just for mental satisfaction knowing how illogical the thing is

As someone who has OCD this is true. Like the guy in the video did sometime we do things multiple or random. The guy in the vid couldve thought if i do less than 5 pumpz i die. We think that that is real or when we say "Ooh i got stabbed" in a joking way, we are scared that that will happen, or sometimes i think "if u dont make it in 5 seconds to the other side, ur grandpa dies. Its scary!

I have ocd and this is true… often feels like if I don’t do this thing, such as washing hands or bathing myself multiple times, I feel as if I’m dirty, disgusting, and that I will get some disease. I also feel like If I don’t do these things a specific amount of times, my day will get even worse… I will have a bad day just because I didn’t do it. People don’t take it seriously because it’s not “the worst ocd” but it’s still a struggle you know? Our daily life with certain actions that have to be done multiple times by feelings that we have no control of and can’t shake off. Thank you for spreading awareness🫶🏻

OCD is usually tied to Anxiety. I have OCD and people with OCD usually do things over and over again to make sure that everything is right. For example during tests I re-read the passage over and over agin to make sure I got everything. During writing assignments I keep thinking until I find the perfect word. I also have anxiety. Anxiety can sometimes help you. For example if you see a bear on the sidewalk your walking on your gonna get nervous and probably run away.

I have ocd, some compulsions that I do:
- switching of a light until it feels right
- tapping until it feels right
- putting my hands on corners so it feels right
OCD is not just about organisation, it’s a lot of other things too. And it’s horrible to have it. 😍

For ones who don't know, it's not only the clean one. I have several (this one, the "thinking about future" one, the cheking one sometimes...). It's not easy as "stop thinking about it"; it's like being possesed and cannot control yourself, or something bad could happen.

This one, the cleaning the hands, made my hands bleed in several winters, so it's not funny, it's not fancy; it's a problem

Hang on, I have OCD, but it’s totally different. Let me explain. There are different types. I have the organization kind. So, everything has to be perfectly symmetrical and like literally in the perfect spot. So, not all people with OCD wash their hands 5 times, some just have to have everything looking perfect. I’ve been around people who say “it’s not real” because I’m not a germaphobe. Sometimes, it even involves me popping my knuckles certain amount of times. Normally, mine are 5 or 10. I like numbers that are every 5 numbers. Everybody has their different amounts, mine just happen to be 5 and 10. (It must end in 5 or 10 is what I mean.) Life gets stressful, especially when you like repeating things. I literally stop in the middle of conversations to do things that repeat like tapping. I don’t personally think bad things will happen if I don’t do it, but it gets very annoying and I can’t breath if I don’t. It’s kinda like how every autistic person has different symptoms and react differently.
Many times people assume certain things that are untrue, like how all people with OCD see the world as “everything has to be clean” or “I have to wash my hands 6 times to not die” or something along those lines. Just next time you start assuming things about people who have OCD, please remember this!
