WHAT IS CHASTITY? (CATHOLIC VISIÓN)

CHASTITY Chastity consists in self-control, in the ability to direct the sexual instinct at the service of love and to integrate it into the development of the person.

Christian chastity supposes overcoming one's own selfishness, the ability to sacrifice for the good of others, nobility and loyalty in service and in love.

Chastity is the great success of young people before marriage. It is also the best way to understand and, above all, to value love.

It is not a denial of sexuality, but the best preparation for married life. Because it is a training in generosity, duty and self-control, qualities that are so important for the exercise of human sexuality.

In young people, chastity trains and forms the personality. It supposes an effort that endows the person with solidity of will and a sense of possession and mastery of oneself, which, in turn, is a source of profound peace and joy.

Chaste young people, normally, are more constant at work and in study, they have more illusions, they are more idealistic.
