Women know that they are vulnerable, especially when they are pregnant. They also know that their children will need protection and provision, and that it will take two people to do that adequately. The mother carries, nurses, and cares for the children. The father cares for and protects the mother, the children and the home, and generally, is also the one who goes out and brings home the bacon. Those have been the traditional roles for many reasons, and it explains why women feel the attractions that they do.
