Cortisol is a real issue, a lot of people do not address this and how sleep impacts your weight loss. I feel like weight loss doctors focus a lot on your exercise and diet habits and when you stall or start gaining weight, they forget about cortisol. So informative! Been dealing with this myself.

Thank you for this! This has helped shed light on the issues I’ve been having the past two years. Drs. Have given me generic answers to gut, skin issues and deny it’s high cortisol or stress. Thank you 🙏, thank k you!

Best thing you can do when you don’t feel up to par is to start fasting. It regulates just about anything and everything. My best advice. Love to all.

Lot of cortisol breaks your endocrine system, your thyroid, have liver isuess= hipotiroidism, insuline resistence. You have to make a relax process daily, drink & eat that relax, calm you!! And go to a Functional MD. The Best you can get!! And sleep the more, Best you can. Stress causes conditions we have to Learn, cure holistically with Homeopathic Medicine for example, soft & efective workouts like Tai Chi etc Unlearn "pain is gain"

I agree with some of the other comments. You are actually talking about a pathogenic process here. If someone is so far down the road the he has developed a "moon face" or other symptoms you mention, he needs to go to a doctor. This goes beyond stress. You are describing a disease state which requires medical intervention.

The symptoms of extremely high cortisol levels being described here are not just “stress” related. Thomas is describing in detail Cushing Syndrome which if you are not taking external cortisone is being caused either by a pituitary adenoma or lung tumour. More importantly the symptoms which include high blood pressure, pre diabetes/ diabetes, a large round stomach, moon face, low drive and anxiety are also common symptoms for people with metabolic syndrome. You cannot just go test cortisol levels the way you would for glucose, cortisol levels vary a lot. There are in fact three consecutive tests used to diagnose high cortisol and this should be done under the supervision of an endocrinologist. High test results are typically followed by a suppression test and MRI to confirm the diagnosis. Thomas is giving selective unqualified medical advice here equating stress to symptoms that could have far more profound causes.

another one is vision impairment from what is called CSR (central serous retinopathy), often in just one eye and is most common in men who have high stress or do steroids. Excess cortisol can cause fluid buildup in the retina.
