At $69.99 how good or how bad can it be? It does have little extras like leds on the arms and 200mw vtx.

What do you think? Worth $70? If it were $90 what would you change for the extra $20?

Normally I don’t watch quad reviews any more. But what makes this drone very interesting is the price. At $69 i don’t have to risk my life to climb 30m tall trees or invest 2h into rescue missions. And what i really love is that you can buy spare arms. Whats the reason of independent arms when you can’t buy them even for much more expensive drones? I didn’t expect that for that price.

Thank you Nick! Thank you for your comment on BabyAPE. If you have better suggestions for improvement, I hope you can tell me. We are willing to make it a perfect 3", and we will listen to everyone's suggestions.

I like this quad, looks like a pretty cool little flyer. This comes at a perfect time too, when prices in the FPV world are getting so expensive that getting a new quad, starts to look hopeless. Thanks for a great review.

Awesome review, as usual Nick!

Looks like a fantastic little budget ripper! For $70 you can’t beat it! It would certainly get you started, if you can manage not to crash it too hard.

Thanks Nick!
LEDs/Bling sets them apart! Besides those boards cost pennies, and the much more🙄

I love the price. Especially with 1103's. Looks like I found a new micro. Great video, tons of info. I'll let you know how camera swap works. Hopefully no jello seems like nylon nuts will work fine with a little sanding or stack o-rings

I bought the Darwinfpv 7 inch GPS quad from Pyrodrone..rebrand of the Tyro 129. And it was actually a solid 7 inch quad for under $140 bucks. Of course I ended up switching some components to do DJI fpv. But it was worth what I paid for it. Awesome thing about this little quad you reviewed here is it is budget friendly and get more new people in the hobby! Thanks for sharing 😎 Looks like the old Emax motors..lol

For the price it appears pretty good. It might be a good base to slowly upgrade and end up with a really fun quad. Im gona keep my eye on how this one does over time. Great review 👍👍

I have the darwin79 (4s 3"). It will fly and it works for having a drone I can experiment with and do more risky maneuvers. Comparing to a babyhawk II it doesn't fly nearly as well, but like I said if it gets stuck in a tree or smashed on concrete I'm not as worried. I got it when it first came out for like 80 bucks and it's a nice backup to have.

I've got four of the Darwinfpv quads now. A 79, two 59s and one of the 18650 powered Dave c design copies.
I can honestly say that they all fly very well. I've had no component failures so far with any of them.
The only change I made on the 59 was to swap the vtx to a higher powered one as it flies so well, the 25mW stock vtx didn't allow me to fly far enough away !!
The 18650 is exceptionally good and all of them seem to have good flight times.
I've had more compinent failures with some far more expensive quads!!
Only thing I would say is to check all the screws are tight before you fly. One or two were a bit slack out of the box.
As the prices are low I'm not scared to try new tricks for fear of smashing up a very expensive quad !! Can't really fault them.

I have a baby ape ! This quad is great! I can fly it with out anybody freaking out,
It’s quiet, your not disturbing anyone.
It’s like flying a 5” but stealth.
I use a 3s 550maH, I changed out the vtx antenna and using crossfire rx .
Try one you will not be disappointed.

Hi Nick Great video and review of the Darwin Babyape 3. WoW ! I have not seen any 3in quad for that price for a long time. Those motors remind me of KingKong motors back when I started. I just like to see how they hold up. Thanks again for the video and information.

Bought the Baby Ape V2 w/Expresslrs for $112 and I like it. Wish they used 2m motor screws and not 1.5m otherwise great. Great box tune.

Love your reviews. Stoked about this cheap lil guy.
And I’m not usually an audio/mix/edit snob, but there’s a persistent and high pitch ring in this video during the flight footage that almost made me think I had tinnitus for a minute there…

Hmmm... I think DarwinFPV may have found a much needed niche! Could they be the new Eachine of FPV? Seems likely.

I've now been in the FPV hobby for 5 years, so I've seen a little gear. 😉Watched literally multiple thousands of videos - way too many! Lol Nick's are the best of the best!
My thoughts: Nick's right. These guys appear to buy parts in bulk and assemble. My only issue is they buy old parts. One's no longer used by nearly everyone! About 3 - 4 years ago we saw 1104 motors used by lots of manufacturers. No longer. Especially with no markings! 🥴
That AIO board reminds me of a primative version of the first GepRC 15 amp board I bought when AIO's first upped the amps from 5 to 12 or 15 amps. Very few quads, now a days, use only a 200 mw VTX, but nothing wrong with that! Hey, at least it isn't only 25 mw, like the real old days! Haahaa!
That camera - UGH! I don't think I've ever seen one with such a small FOV. Certainly needs a replacement! Too bad too, cuz all of the other components could suffice and stay. Really brings the quad down! 👎
I did like Nick suggested, and read every comment. Some guy said those motors are "two dolla" on AliExpress. They'd have to be to make this even come close to the $79.99 shipped cost. I live in Oregon, USA, and that's what shipping added.

The frame, even though it looks slightly rough, appears like it might just be the strong point of this quad. Some other guy mentioned replaceable arms and Nick the nice and surprising LED's. Wow! 👍
I have no idea if it's durable, but the AIO seems like it's possibly worth 3/4 of the quads cost! Lol Seems all current stock at dealers automatically went up in price with the "new so-called chip shortage" too, so seeing a quad shipped for 80 bucks - did we travel back in time to 2017 ? LOL

I typically take a chance on quads this cheap because the AIO and the frame would cost 80 bucks! Ha! But, alas, I have over 20 quads and don't have the time to fly them already, so I have to pass.

I will say this to DarwinFPV, ALL parts must be "worthy" to consider a quad "great" or a bargain. Your camera choice has let this model down. Unacceptable! I would have easily paid $10 more for you to keep that hunk of junk and use even just a Caddx Ant instead.
Maybe this will help you do a better job next time.
The motors keep it cheap, but seem questionable also.
Other than those two parts, not a bad effort from a new-ish company to FPV.

REMEMBER, next time ALL PARTS decent! Go ahead and charge slightly more to achieve that!!! 🤔🤘
