Honestly, Crayola pencils have carried my childhood drawings through fire. They just need a little encouragement

The honesty and candor is so refreshing. He doesn't dance around topics or flaws, just addresses them and how they could be better. Amazing

still living for the Beatles references
also I love that Scott didn't automatically but Prismacolour at number 1, even though he's always used them. he was still fair and honest

Hey Scott. The reason why Faber castell wasn't blending aswell is because they're oil based and they're meant for more animalistic drawings such as tigers, other furry animals etc. But if you do want to try and blend them. I'd recommend Blending Solvent

Can I just say that I love how Scott takes his sweet time to make the videos for us to ensure they're good quality? BECAUSE THAT KINDA THING IS WHAT I APPRECIATE ABOUT HIM.

I don’t draw a lot of realism and I absolutely love the Faber Castell pencils. I use them both for sketching and for colouring my art and I’ve found that it works great for my more cartoony style. You just gotta know what works for you

(I have used the Faber castells to draw realistic animals in the past and that turned out alright too)

Growing up in Switzerland, we would actually get Caran D’Ache pencils in school for free! All you had to do was bring an your old little pencil stump to your teacher and you would get a new wonderful coloring pencil!
Looking back not I never realized what a privilege that was!❤️ Loved this mini series and all of the puns!!!

just a little note: i think faber castell is meant more for detail work and not for blending large areas. It's a hard pencil so it's meant to stay crisp and sharp vs other soft brands that might smudge and get blurry on that level. I personally love using faber-castell on top of markers and watercolors for additional detail

I'm so sad... i love the polychromos. The don't blend that easily because the need to be layerd. Best wishes from Germany. Please try them again🙏🏻

I wouldn't trade my polychromos for the world🤭 this shows how different artists can be 😂😂 I really love these series and you art!

I like my polychromos BECAUSE they don't blend, like they don't smudge in areas where I don't need or want it, but I also love my luminance, they are just another level and I my opinion, not even comparable to any other colored pencils.. I got both mentioned for Christmas and I love those 🤯🍀💚

Faber Castels can actually bland really great, maybe just not with the techniques you are used to. If you use thin layers letting the colors cross over one another slowly adding layers the blanding is really smooth. Maybe try researching blending techniques or watch other artists that use that brand to find out what works best with them. They do not function like the prisma colors but they are not worse, just different and maybe not what you used too.

BTW I love ur channel, ur art is great and I really appreciate ur honesty and character.

Hey Scott short information in germany the prismacolor are usualy more expensive than the polychromos probably because of the need to import. Seems like its the same with the polychromos in th USA

The FC need more love (=gentle layering) than the CD and Prisma but (imo) give the most lovely results in the end. But all of this is *very* personal! I knew the CD would become your new faves the second you announced this series. They suit your style so well! Have fun with your new pencils and stay healthy and happy in 2023!

I love how you changed your mind after so many years of Prismacolors. Most people wouldn't be able to accept that another brand might be better than their all time favorite.

I love those "scientific" tests. Maybe it's just seeing someone putting together charts of colour. I love my lil' collection of colour panels I did myself on diffrent papers to find out what I like. Awesome short. ♡

I've been using the Polychromos pencils for years now. I got my first 36 set when I turned 16 from my parents and over the years, I bought the full set after saving up my own money. I'm turning 24 in a few days and still use them.

Where I'm from (the north of the Netherlands) the Prisma Colors are not widely available in art stores (and I always get my art supplies in-store). I've tried some other brands as well, but I always return to the polychromos because they just work really well for the semi-realistic style that I have.
