What If Anakin Skywalker NEVER Becomes Darth Vader

What if Anakin Skywalker NEVER turned to the Dark Side? Let's explore the depths of it in this video.

Anakin meditates in his quarters, trying to forget the news of Padme's pregnancy. Although it should be a joyous moment, the announcement feels like a nightmare. Every time he closes his eyes he finds visions of his wife lying on the birthing bed, dying alone as the pregnancy is too much for her.

With how often it happens, it begins to feel inevitable and he's doomed to lose the woman he loves.

But his troubles do not end there. He hopes the council could assign him a mission to the frontlines, somewhere he can take his mind off his worries. Instead, they order him to spy on the chancellor.

For Anakin, this is just salt in the wound as not only does he have his wife to worry about, but now he feels his loyalty torn between the Jedi order, and his mentor, Palpatine.

Eventually, it becomes clear that sleep will not come and Anakin decides to get up and meet with the chancellor. The two of them meet in the opera. There, Palpatine finally casts his line to try and lure the young Jedi into the dark side.

As they watch the opera, he hints at the power that can prevent those he loves from dying. Anakin is immediately intrigued by the offer. This is the power he had been searching for since he saw his mother die. With it, he could save not just Padme, but his entire family.

Anakin considers accepting the offer, but something nags at his head. The way Palpatine described this ability as unnatural. Would he subject Padme to something that might alter her body in such a way?

The more Anakin considers it, the less certain he is. He decides to consult Padme first and hear what she has to say. After the opera, Anakin makes his way to her apartment. When she sees them, she immediately comes to his side and helps him sit, asking what's wrong.

Before Anakin realizes it, he starts telling her everything that happened that night from his visions to the power Palpatine offers. He explains that there are Force abilities not known to Jedi that can save her. For Padme, that is a lot to take in and she struggles to make sense of most of it. She does see the worry on her husband's face and cups his cheeks.

Gently, she reminds him that Anakin has never let anyone dictate his life to him. He's always done things his way and he's never needed dark powers to do that, just his passion and love. These visions are no different. She says she doesn't need any powers to save her; she only needs to have Anakin by her side.

For, Anakin this is all the confirmation he needs. It's as if a huge weight is being lifted off his shoulders. While he is still afraid, he sees the hope and determination in his wife's life, he feels a sense of peace wash over him.

Anakin's mind is clear and he begins to see the wisdom in the Jedi Council's plan. Though he disagrees with some of their actions, they are right to be suspicious of Palpatine after all. His offer was unusual as was his knowledge of Sith Lore.

Without Palpatine's influence washing over him, he can see how dangerous these things are and why the council wants to learn more. Anakin decides to throw himself fully into this mission, regularly sending reports to the Jedi about his meetings with Palpatine while inquiring more about these powers under the guise of considering his offer.

To keep the chancellor from getting suspicious, Anakin continues to talk about his fears of losing Padme. He isn't lying either as his fears remain and help prevent Palpatine from getting suspicious. For Palpatine, it appears like everything is falling into place, and decides it's his time to reveal himself as a Sith Lord.

With this information, Anakin reports his findings to Mace Windu.

Anakin: He won't give up his power. I've just learned a terrible truth. Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith Lord.

Mace: A Sith Lord?

Anakin: Yes, the one we've been looking for.

Mace: How do you know this?

Anakin: He knows the ways of the Force. He's been trained to use the Dark Side.

Mace: Are you sure?

Anakin: Absolutely.

Anakin then hesitates, causing Mace to frown and ask if there is more. Reluctantly, Anakin continues.

Anakin: Yes, he's offered to train me to use the Dark Side.

Mace curses under his breath and decides to confront the chancellor with a strike team of Jedi. He orders Anakin to wait there, sensing the confusion and conflict in him. However, this time Anakin agrees, and as the gunship carrying Mace disappears, he heads back inside to meditate.

With so much happening over the last few days, Anakin takes this opportunity to try and clear his head. Although he avoids Palpatine's trap to lure him into the Dark Side, he still feels a great danger threatening them. Though subtle, he senses darkness is growing in the Force.

However, his thoughts are interrupted by the sound of shouts below. As he looks out the window, Anakin sees many Jedi rushing through the temple courtyard.

Why didn't Anakin ever notice that HE wasn't with Padme in any of those visions of her dying? He noticed Obi Wan who would have backed him up in making sure Anakin would be at her side instead of him.

I always wish you or Pente patrol would do a story like this where Anakin doesn’t turn and instead goes into hiding with the rest of the Jedi and becomes a pivotal part in the rebellion events playing out like normal and Endor is the final battle still

What if Revan wasn't found in stasis until the first year of the clone wars? That would mean that Revan in his prime would be alive and well, and Darth Vitiate's spirit would still be dormant since Revan didn't awake his spirit at Yavin.

Yep, this is one of the stories that has a subset decision where I almost think you should make two.

So Anakin decides to not fall to the dark side, talks things through with Padme tells mace, almost everything and stays at the temple. Well, in this scenario, Palpatine was playing possum so that Anakin would have to “save him”.

But what if Mace was actually winning the fight?

First what-if ive seen on youtube that comes close to a premise ive wanted in a video for a while now.

Basically just a long form video version of an existing, but incomplete, fanfic.

Similar start as this one (Anakin stays in the temple and defends it against order 66) but the Jedi take too much damage still, and Prequel era still ends with the empire. Just now Anakin and Padme end up later working for the rebellion.

Its a cool idea, just not a very common one sadly...

As we know darth vader was a natural engineer and could use mechaguru or whatever so what if he used skill to create nanobots to repair his lungs and burns while also making limbs that could conduct the force to make lightning. This could relate to inquisitor baris as she used nanobots in the bomb and he may remember nanobots and their uses. He could could also conduct experiments diguised as torture to fool sidious, learning to heal wounds, make force sensitive droids/limbs and using nano bots to manipulate mididclorians to strip or enhance the force in individuals.
What I was thinking was that he used nanobots to remove scar tissue especially around the lungs and he would be dipped in bacta or bacta would be applied this would allow him breath which means he can meditate more deeply. And for the limbs, it is possible to make material force sensitive and I was thinking he make limbs skeletal looking like in attack of the clones but would then cover the we either grafed flesh from his body or flesh made from his blood and other ingredients like perhaps kyber crystal this would make the force flow from him easier and perhaps with the sith alchemy in the limbs making his force lightning more powerful. Basically an uber vader who is perhaps stronger than full potential anakin.

This was amazing. I’ve been a fan of your videos for a while and it’s always fun to see your interesting SW what if’s. It was also fun to see Anakin not falling to the darkside getting shown some love. This is definitely an interesting scenario and it should definitely get shown some more love. I always love seeing these different takes on what will happen if Anakin never fell, because it’s always fun to see how he’ll react. Great job as always and I can’t wait to see what you do next.

I do have a few ideas for some possible what if’s:

1) What if Rey was a Mandalorian…essentially what if Din Djarin found Rey and took her in as a Foundling.

2) What if Ezra was a Mandalorian…something like how both his parents were Mandalorians who left Mandalore and went to start their own lives (you could still keep most of Ezra’s backstory) and potentially make Ezra and Sabine a couple (since Disney won’t, we have too…#ezrabine4ever.

3) What if Jango Fett and/or Boba Fett Joined the Republic…I think something interesting could happen with this.

4) What if Rey, Finn and Poe went back in time to the Clone Wars…this would make the World Between Worlds even more of an important focal point and I could also see them get along well with Anakin, Ashoka, Rex and the rest of the 501st (it would be fun to see Rey, Finn and Poe join the 501st)
