Advanced System Restore for Windows 7

This video walkthrough will look at how to use system restore when you can't boot in to Windows 7.

Maybe you have installed a software update or made a change to your computer that has stopped Windows from starting up.
If only you could roll back your computer to a time before you installed that update or made that change!

If you have a Windows 7 install DVD there is a way to access system restore without starting Windows.

This should only be use as a last resort when you can't start Windows 7.

First class video. Taught me a few things, not least that Windows creates restore points itself without you knowing, which is a very good thing. (Not everyday, but certainly when it runs Windows Updates).

If you ever suffer a BSOD don't fret if you have not created your own restore point, chances are Windows has done it for you, but how recently depends on when the last Windows Update ran.

Thanks to the makers of this video, you saved my skin.

Hey, quick question of you- I think I caught a virus yesterday morning. My computer is running fine, but I did a "Norton Power Eraser" scan & it said it found something, then when it tried removing it, it said "Remove was unsuccessful", I think it may be a Stealth Virus. Right before I got this virus, I organized A LOT of files, moved them around. If I would restore my computer back to a week ago, will my files still be organized or will they be in the location where they were at a week ago? Thx

Yes you can, I should have said in the video.
I've covered the repair option on the advanced boot options list in another video I have on the channel.

Hi - having problems with printer spooler, virtual disc drive, and even normal system restore. If I simply reinstall Windows 7 and select System Restore as you show here, will it possibly rectify these problems? Thanks!

Is there anyway to use advanced restore without the disk? My computer didn't come with a disk and the system restore disk I made (first thing I did) has proven useless. My previous system restore discs were at 2 discs (desktop) and 4 discs (laptop).... This one is 376kb which to me seems odd and it will not allow me to restore back to what would have been when I bought it! Any help is appreciated!
