Here is one simple rule for a modded game: If the game updates, your mods likely won't work until they are updated.

As a non-modded BG3 player, I have not encountered a single one of these issues.

This might be the dumbest discourse in the modding scene I have seen in awhile.

People are just looking for rage bait at this point. It's common knowledge in any game with most studios that if there is not official mod support, mods are going to break eventually on patches.

Removing mods in protest and/or out of spite is definitely *NOT* the best way to go about things. That just screws over the people who actually enjoy playing modded games.

We need to give Larian some grace. They are the best dev as far as community response and the product is amazing. We shouldn’t turn on them because of small issues.

My biggest problem is Steam's forced updates policy. I can launch the game from desktop without having Steam open to get around the forced update to play the game with mods still working. I tried this in the past and for some reason the game updated anyway and I had to wait for bg3se to be updated. Must have accidentally launched through steam. Wish you could just turn off auto-update like you can in Epic games.

If nothing else, console mod support becoming more common is a really cool thing. Big kudos to any devs trying to make that work.

It sounds like everyone forgot that Larian said multiple times that mods aren't officially supported yet

There's no problem...it's part and parcel to having a developer that cares enough to make updates and such. Yeah, there will be a brief time where there are issues, but I'll take Larian's hand-on approach as opposed to Bethesda's "Ah, it's broken. Oh well" attitude any day.

Didn't expect the community to act like spoiled children because of this, mods most certainly will break every update, it has happened with CP2077, Fallout, Stardew Valley, Minecraft and the list goes on and on... I know it's tedious but it's always been like this when it comes to mods, I think this just went through the roof for no real reason, I completely understand the effort modders do, especially since they do it for free, but cmon was all the drama even necessary?

I’m excited for mod support for consoles

This is just ridiculous. I love my mods as much as the next, but Larian has been amazing. All of this is a bit much. The game is still being updated and doesn't even have full mod support yet. So much of this to me just seems a bit much. Larian will get it right. They have shown they will not only fix, but continue to improve the game. People were screaming right after the patch about script extender breaking hadn't even been 20 minutes yet. It's ridiculous.

A lot of this sounds like entitlement.

in the end. nerds on the internet and took things into their own hands and not just waiting for the studio. as someone who enjoys mods, modders need to realize they are not as important to the game than they want to think or want.

As someone whos been trying to build my own personal modlist for skyrim for the better part of two weeks, people bitching about this are ridiculous. 1) Mods break. Like all the time. Cost of doing business. 2) Larian has a really good track record with their community. And 3) their statement was GOOD. This is completely ridiculous. Yeah they had a bad patch that broke mods but that can happen with any update for any game

This is the first time i've heard anybody saying anything negative about patch 6. Other than the steal everything from the vendors and dupe gold exploit being patched, that is.

Larian are working to help modders. Even if they screw up mods, I'll take this effort over Bethesda's "Well SUCKS TO BE YOU. LOL!!!" attitude towards their modders every time they push an unnecessary update through on a 8 year old game.
