Finances that match the vision, the pay cheque, the Honda partnership, the Valkyrie project, old stablemates and some old rival talents to work with, plus it’s just down the road from his old job: it’s a pretty cruisey choice for Newey

Stroll : make my Son a champion
Newey : 😰

Now they just need to have more than one driver.

Newey said he likes a challenge. Getting Lance on the podium is certainly that!

Lawrence is a very smart man indeed and really understood what it will take to lock Newey in. Understanding what Newey values made it key to get to come onboard and Lawrence has really done everything necessary to turn AM into a championship winning team from a facilities and manpower standpoint and no one ever accused of Newey of not being a smart or practical man who can see what is literally right in front of him. Having complete free rein of the technical side of the team means AM will without a doubt be a technical force to be reckoned with come 2026 and no one should doubt what Newey can do at a team he has complete control over and can dictate necessary changes that need to happen to make their 2026 championship ambitions to be a reality.

None of it matters as long as Lance is still a driver.

Forgetting Little Lance The Licker for a moment, this was by far the best move he could have made. With an infrastructure as good or better than any other team on the grid, a deep engineering staff, full hiring/firing authority on technical staff, an ownership stake, an engine maker he’s already working with, a location close to home. Ferrari = nonstop political obstacles, zero control over the staff, no stake in the team, etc. Above all, he wants to show everybody once again he is the key to making teams successful. At Ferrari, there would inevitably be one “source” or another claiming “oh, he wasn’t that important.”

I will sit and wait for the first time that Adrian Newey has to publicly say that Lance Stroll is world championship material.

I remember saying he'll never go to Aston if he chooses to still work in f1.

I happily swallow those words.

1. Money, 2. Money, 3. Money, 4. Window licking.

This is where the scale and prestige of Ferrari (and Merc) works against the team, they can’t give as much of themselves as Stroll’s Aston Martin can.
Williams would’ve had to just give him ownership to have him join 😂

Lawrence: I bet you can't make my son fast

Adrian: Hold my beer and give me £3K an hour

How Lawrence doesn't realise that Lance has to go before AM can win a championship is bizarre.

Everyone yammering on about money, but I'd confidently wager that the ownership share is what pushed the deal over the line, and not because of the present or future monetary value of those shares. Being a shareholder means you're a part-owner, a literal partner rather than just an employee, and it gives you a greater say in how all aspects of the team are run, gives you a bigger voice in the Boardroom votes.
