She should have left.
But I understand her mindset. She wanted her husband to take accountability fully. He made his bed and should lay into it. He can stay married while having a relationship with his outside kid. OR divorce.
She was righteous till the end. She split the inheritance for all the kids, including the affair child.
Now her kids are mad, because their piece of the inheritance is smaller, the same kids who wanted her to raise the kid. Ha!

There was another Reddit story of a woman that married a much older pastor. He had an affair and got the other woman pregnant, but she past during child birth and he told his wife that she should raise the baby with him because “god would not throw anything her way that she cannot handle” 😐 she ended up leaving him and moving on

My cousin had an affair baby years ago. She stayed with him.
The last couple of years, he was terminally ill with cancer and she had to take care of him until his death on New Years Day this year.

My family is trying to bully her to take the illegitemate child in (because the mom cannot afford childcare costs without the maintenance he was paying.

I personally think she deserves to keep all the insurance money she got paid out and to take care of her own kids.

Oh hell no. After raising 4 kids, many of those years as a single parent, there's NO WAY I'm raising another kid, let alone my spouse's affair baby. I simply don't have it in me.

Unless OPs husband was super unlucky and knocked up his first mistress in the first few months it sounds like he may have been a guy in 40s sleeping with a teenager at the start or at least debating putting the moves on the teen daughter of a family friend (who happened to be 2 years into her 20s by the time conception, gestation, and getting bored happened). And chances are she wasn't his first affair but just the first one circumstances made him own up to. Trash

Another woman’’s child is not your responsibility unless you are a foster mother or a mother to an adopted child. Please leave or get him to leave if this happens. Its not good for the child and leads to a lot of resentment to the child. The child needs to be adopted by parents who are seeking an adopted child or they need to go to a grandparent of the mother or father if they are capable and willing.

Well, the Problem is society and very often men specific do not see women and specific mothers as their own human being. They only see a set of stereotypes. Of course she should have the need to take care of a poor baby and do the free laber all by herself. That is all a mother should be. OMG, a mother is a human with own dreams and goals and personality? How dare she!

This happened to a school-mate of mine. Her husband brought home a son from an affair. She was actually willing to raise him until a mutual friend of ours had words with her.

I hope her grown kids really look at themselves in the mirror and realize they ain’t sh*t, for how they treated their mom especially after how they reacted after they realized the baby devalued their own inheritances. What a bunch of cruel, thoughtless people.
