omg, I was struggling to read a novel in French (my very first) because all the verbs there looked and sounded different from the usual ones. Now I know they were all conjugated in the passé simple form. Thanks for this video!

In Italian, they also use it for literary writing only. In Spanish, they use both all the time.

Hey if you want to read a book (which you probably do if you're learning) you're going to run into the passe simple very quickly. So I think the reality is that learners at minimum do need to be able to read this tense.

Thanks for letting me know not to waste my time. 😊

Je fu looks nothing like être. True. For me, I'll remember more easily as "fui" is the Spanish equivalent. I know Spanish better.

Do you have a video on “le passé intérieur?” This is what I am currently learning, and I am having some trouble understanding it.

Est-ce que vous avez fait une vidéo sur « le passé intérieur » C’est ça que j’apprends actuellement et j’ai du mal à le comprendre.

Je vous prie de croire, Monsieur, à l’assurance de mes sentiments distingués,

Cody

I sometimes think I hear the past historic tense spoken by field reporters on le Journal de 20h sur France 2. In particular "fut" instead of "a été." Do my ears deceive me?

Please don’t underrate passé simple. I find it appealing in fact.

You don’t have to waste your time learning it unless you’re doing a level French 🫠
