Square Enix has a new multiplatform plan that will focus on FUN and multiple plaforms which include new Nintendo systems, PlayStation, PC and Xbox. This proves what I've been saying for years now.

Said it when FF7 remake was first announced and this just confirms it. Not making it for the switch or developing it with the switch in mind for a port later was a huge mistake. Star Ocean 6 and Valkyrie Elysium are other examples.

When Square took the exclusivety deal, they thought that was the safe bet for them because Sony gave them a paycheck upfront, but they found that the payout wasn't worth it if no one buys the games

Another example: Sega making the Like a Dragon (Yakuza) series multiplatform just four years ago or so, especially on PC, was a godsend

I'm not surprised that they are now going multiplatform and focusing more on Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft are now in a worse situation than Nintendo was during the Wii U era. Now it's not just that their consoles and games are selling poorly like the Wii U. Something like 20 or 30 thousand Layoffs. A Bad Reputation. Games cost way too much to make. And Nintendo's biggest competition is now so successful that it can't get any better

Happy to see Square Enix is finally going support Nintendo systems more with the Switch successor. Lets hope this means native and not cloud only like KH. Hope Sega/Atlus....let's be real here. I hope Atlus fully supports the Switch successor from the gate as well and not pick and choose which game to release. Namco as well; because I'm getting tired of them as well. 😑

Yep I would be a day 1 buyer of rebirth and ff16 but I simply ain't buying a Playstation. I have a switch and pc and buying another console is not in the cards.

Square needs to just admit they messed up on FF7 remake/rebirth. The story is not as good as the original and milking one game into 3 has proven to be too much.

This should have been Square’s strategy from the very beginning and I expect them to aggressively pursue switch 2 because why would you skip the launch of the next Nintendo platform especially when that platform will still dominate Japan

There's no doubt the Final Fantasy ip is tarnished, it used to hold prestige, but after FF12 they really began dropping the ball.
