I think I have a theory for the tape:

Jason probably had sleep apnea, or stopping breathing during sleep. It was recorded to show the doctors or something to help Jason out.

I have a possible explanation for this. I had pretty bad sleep apnea as a kid to the point where I would struggle for air in my sleep. The doctor's didn't believe my mom, so she recorded me sleeping to catch an apnea event in action. They took it seriously after that lol.

I find the tape to be....right in the middle of creepy and comforting. It's obvious the parent was wanting to capture a nice moment in time of their child, or help them with a possible medical thing like you said.

The feeling of being watched is less daunting to me than the feeling of being stalked, which is more or less the vibe I get in dark, empty places. Being watched is less troubling to me because I don't lead the most exciting or interesting life so it would be more of a punishment for whomever or whatever had to watch me.

I could see a parent doing that just so they have a certain memory of their child. Our children do not stay children forever.

I mean, I cherish the thought of my infant daughter sleeping peacefully, and to me it's not too weird to think maybe somebody wanted to hold something like that close to them as the years moved on and their child got older.

When I was about 8, I fell asleep with my blinds open one night. Was woken up by a camera flash and sat up to see someone in dark clothing riding away from my window on a bike. My parents didn't believe me. Now I rarely leave my blinds open at all, even though my apartment is on the 3rd floor.

I think one of the worst situations for many is that MySpace videos can't be played back anymore. Those were the only videos I had of my sis who died in 2008.

People now don't know just how lucky they are that they'll have footage of their loved ones when they pass since it is so common to upload videos of the self and others.
I'm glad everyone does. It makes me sad that I have nothing but some 2008 quality webcam and digi cam photos, but it is also better than nothing.
