Fantastic! $6.8k is a steal! I was thinking closer to $8k. You really knocked it out of the park, Al. I know that $6.8k sounds expensive, folks, but remember - Al didn't write a check for $6800 all at once. He bought things as he needed them, picking up parts and supplies over the course of several months. Yes, there are some big ticket items on the list, but planning ahead and saving up for those pricier items pays off in the end. Way to go, Al! It's beautiful!

Thanks for breaking down the cost. Also, thanks for showing some of the other builds. They all look great. I especially like the one with the red wine- colored wood finish! Jobs well done!

We build a trailer for the pleasure of doing so, we can achieve the quality level we want and the design we want. We are so much more competent after such project, and there is no price tag for that...

Great video Al!

This is a great build and the finish work has been amazing. You have covered the cost of materials for your build, but you also need to take into account the number of hours spent on the build to get a full picture. When buying a commercial product, labor hours are also factored into the pricing and we often leave out the time spent working on the build, working out problems/issues, sourcing parts/materials, etc. I am building an airplane and I am saving ~$50K between cost of materials and a straight purchase of the exact same airplane from the manufacturer. This cost does not include the new tools I needed to purchase, the rental of storage space for completed assemblies, the fact that I am working in my garage so it is not used for other things, etc. Our time is money too and you must factor in the enjoyment you get from the building process against time spent with family enjoying the activity of camping. Don't get me wrong, I am currently weighing the build vs. buy equation for myself. Great videos and thanks for bringing us along on your journey!

The cost you have for quality of your build is good. That trailer is probably way better built that most that come out of factories. The huge cost for the trailer frame is well worth the cost for a safe frame to start with. Looks great!

What a relief to hear the cost of yours. I thought my costs were higher than most. I'm just finishing my 5x10 build and I'm at right around $6.5k and all I need to get is a propane tank and a tongue box. I'll be posting a video/photos on the Facebook group soon.

I like how you explain that you spared no expense, but not everybody has to build their trailer exactly the same way you did. I didn't hear you say anything about the cost on the insulation and battery, so maybe I missed that. If you were to try to put a value on your own labor that you have into this build, obviously we would be looking at a much higher number, as your craftsmanship is second to none! Very good video!

Great work Al! Thanks for doing your build step by step. It's so hard to find videos on this sort of stuff.

I can't wait to see your teardrop go on its maiden voyage! I'll be watching! 🦇🦇🦇🦇 😉

I knew about your last build but didn't know you had made other trailers. That's cool. Also cheaper than I thought you would be at at this point. I'm about $3500-4000 into my build. Need to do something like this at some point

I'm at $3, 300 but I'm not tired of spending money. I'm just tired of buying stuff. I was going to use my complete budget of 7k but right now is looking more up to $4, 600. I'm missing solar, panels, battery, and some carbon fiber, epoxy resin.

Purchased all the 2x2 square tubing for my frame today. $93 and some change. I had to shop around. Another steel yard wanted twice that amount.
