You know what excites me most about this log cabin project? The promise of many, many months of awesome videos. I only discovered your first cabin series when you were already halfway there, so I binged the first half in like 2 days and then waited impatiently for the next video to drop. So now, I get to experience it all from the very beginning and I'm gonna stick with it until it's done. Can't wait!

The ABSOLUTE first thing to do is to replace the Japanese bearings with Timken or other US made ones and in the process flush all the grease out and replace with good high temp wheel bearing grease. Not doing so will lead to catastrophic bearing failure 3-4K miles (ask me how I know)! Also, the red is paint, not powder coat, and will chip off & rust through within 12 to 18 months. You might also consider moving the axle back so that 75-80% of the bed is in front of it, and using a 2 1/2x2 1/2 inch or 3x3 inch square tube to extend the tongue from the second cross member to a foot or two ahead of the factory hitch location. Both of these will make the trailer much easier to manouver and stable when towing.

If you put washers on the corner bracket that should take the play out of the gap. Thanks for the video.

Can't wait to follow the new build. Use washers for spacers on the frame to fill the gaps, and use grade 8 bolts for the trailer hitch. Keep up the good work.

I’m so excited for this series. A micro camper is in my list of future projects. I can’t wait to see how yours turns out! Goodluck!

I built a camping trailer from a 4x8 harbor freight trailer about 7 years ago! Great solid trailer that I sold a couple of years later for the same price I purchased it for.

So your trailer should have one of those aluminium toolboxes for a pickup, attached to the back. Then you should initially build a compartment on the base for lumber and materials for your projects. And on top of that should be a cab for sleeping and chilling if you have to spend the night at your cabin sight. With a mini fridge and built in pull out couch for comfort/sleep. Also... starlink internet haha.

Love your videos! I've had this exact trailer for 5+ years as an utility trailer. Make sure you repack the hub bearings with actual bearing grease! The stuff from the factory is just for rust-proofing and will not stand up to time. I didn't know about it and ended up buying new bearings. Also the powder coating only lasted a couple years on mine before it started flaking in spots.

Was helpful to watch the construction of it. Thanks

Woodness Goodness: I just subscribed. You were a random youtube suggestion. Sitting here LMAO because you are so much just like me. And you are right about that ONE SOULMATE. The only difference is our age. I am old enough to be your grandpa. I would enjoy being your friend. My eyes are red, too, sometimes when I go to my shop. That wildwood weed well do that to you. 😉

Some ideas: put a kitchen on one outside end that has a small fridge (alpicool 20 on amazon is about as cheap as a cooler) running water with a simple 12v pump in a gerry can, and then an area to put a cheap camp stove /storage/simple sink. For solar, either have mobile and not fixed so you can use the roof for carrying wood. Or have it slide out under a roof lumber rack. Interested in seeing how it turns out!

I agree with your change outs and additions. Please, in detail, explain your wheel and axle change out. Gonna do same to my build out on trailer in future. Thanks, Tina.

Good luck finding a harbor freight trailer. Been out of stock for 6 months. 5.45 bolt pattern is the same as many Jeep and some ford bolt pattern. So Jeep, Ranger, Explorer rims will work.
