Jill Ciminillo takes a look at the infotainment system and other tech in the 2024 Acura TLX Type S. While she generally likes the technology available in this sporty midsize sedan, there are a few bothersome things.

I really don’t know what to say about this vehicle. It looks nice, but at the same time doesn’t excite my curiosity. Glad to watch this and understand the unconventional ways of Acura. Great one again Jill!

Thank goodness this has carplay because we know Tom would be upset if it didn't LOL and for that touch pad I would definitely not be a fan.. I currently have a Tesla20 21 model 3.. and I do have premium connect which I pay $99 a year.. which I find very reasonable.. thank you Jill and Tom for all you do keeping us informed..😊

Listened to your Podcast review and then jumped to this video: nice job!

My Type S was built in February, and still has Sirius/XM as an audio channel FWIW... I prefer not to pay for it in any form. I mostly like the tech in this vehicle, particularly the logically arrayed actual buttons on the dash for HVAC and seat heating/cooling (the "auto" setting for the seats is a nice feature I haven't seen before), on the console for volume and on the steering wheel for audio, adaptive cruise, etc.

I have gotten used to the touchpad ... I think it's actually quite good when using the native Acura GUI, but agree it falls apart when using Android Auto. I've also gotten used to the pushbutton shifter. The electronic parking brake is 180 out from the others I have used (Audi's and Volvo's) in that you pull the button to DIS-engage it, but I got used to it after a couple weeks -- that was actually the steepest learning curve for me. No issues with the QI pad here... I wonder if your tester has a defective one. Overall I am loving this car, and its rarity adds to the appeal for me. In my northern Virginia DC suburb, I've seen more Tesla Cybertrucks on the road than TLX Type S's of any year.

No a fan of the touch pad at all. Much prefer a touch screen. I think you’re right that Accura will get rid of this system on their next release. Thanks for the in-depth tech review. 👍

For SiriusXM I think it’s just another cost cutting move. For someone like me who drives across country a fair amount have it built into the car is much better. There are still plenty of places where there might be no cell service or there is service but data does not work well and so having it built in is a better move. Most plans now on Sirius include free access on the phone app anyway.

I'd recommend including a "please like and subscribe" at the beginning and the end of your videos. I know it's a bit lame, however it does actually work. You should have more subscribers based on the performance of some of your videos. Thanks for the review!

So one dealer told me recently that they haven't been able to get one in for 3 months... Also, THAT TOUCHPAD! OMG! Also, the touchscreen in the MDX is VERY SLIGHTLY angled toward the passenger's seat. Strange.
