9700X - Have We Found The Missing Performance?

I'm a gamer, but I care about the power efficiency a lot. It's mostly because I have a solar generator and want to fit in the amount of kwh it generates per year, so the electricity bill stays at 0 all year round (if I use more power, each kwh of electricity is around 0.25 euro, so it's a big difference from 0). And a 65W processor does just that. I do a lot of gaming (can be up to 12h per day, but usually closer to 4-6h per day). When I'm not gaming, I do a lot of video encoding (x265 and av1) so I also need the raw performance of the CPU which the X3D chips just don't have (because their FPS numbers are achieved by fast memory, but the cores have 15-20% less raw performance). With 4K videos that difference can mean hours of extra time waiting for encoding to finish.
p.s. I keep my PC turned off only when I'm sleeping. During the workdays I leave it on and have it encoding videos when I'm at work, so that when I come back I could jump into gaming straightaway.

Most gamers care about efficiency. Most of the world has pretty high energy costs. That said I'm not sure why everyone really cares too much about a non-x3d chip in gaming. We see the single core IPC uplift is there the question becomes will the x3d chip allow it to be used in gaming. If yes then weeee Zen 5 is fine, if no Zen 5 is purely a server generation. It is what it is. I wouldn't even be mad really. AMD needs server and laptop market share, they have been killing it for years in DIY.

The fact is that Newegg did not have this CPU sell out, which means this CPU is not favorite.
It is sold out on Amazon, but I guarantee their supply was way weaker

If you see any gains with SMT off it simply means windows core scheduling thing is messed up. You can bet it's the same on other CPUs aswell. Windows is not going to say "oh it's 9700x im going to have extremely wrong scheduling compared to other cpus".

this show a problem in ram, bios, microcode or windows bug, ,,9700x better than 14900k in fair performance if bug solved(amd research on it)

"sure you can do a curve optimizer" doesn't do curve optimizer, doesn't use curve shaper. "I thought I missed something" You did. You can get the same watts as stock, great temps but better than just PBO on results, but of course, you don't bother. Ryzen Master will do a per core optimizer for you if you couldn't be bothered and that is just clicking a button. Every man and his dog is using negative voltage offset via curve optimizer, it's well documented and is as basic as turning on EXPO or XMP. Why even bother making this tripe?

During launch of 9950x well knowing that it will be a flop. Just swapped my 7950x to 7950x3D with no paying extra. Performance increase after proper setup and tune is phenomenal from base zen 4 cpu's :) dunno what AMD was thinking, imo could just release x3D right away and only X3D cpu's, even their old 5800x3D still gives tough time to zen 5 in many games :(

Just wait about 30 days, there's new BIOS/driver/software updates coming. The performance gains are showing up in Linux tests, it's nerfed on the Windows side of things.
