When Parents Bully Teachers

Author/Speaker Brooks Gibbs discusses how teachers should respond to angry parents who might feel that the teacher is doing nothing about their kid's social problems. Unfortunately, parents and teachers are often not on the same page and will attack each other. This makes things worse for the child suffering from bullying. The best approach is for both the teacher and the parents to work together on a strategy to help the child, rather than remain divided.

We believe that all teachers need to be aware of potential social problems that would hinder a child's happiness. We believe that teachers should be trained to help children learn the social skills to solve their problems.

Thanks for making this video, when parents bully teachers it creates a difficult situation. In some districts the parents have all the power and the teachers can’t have those open conversations that you just described. Most of the time teachers and some districts can’t advocate for themselves and it presents an issue. Thanks so much for trying To help teachers do a better job.

The worst bullying is done by teachers. When I was in 6th grade i had a teacher that had a grudge against a kid. She organized all the boys in class to beat him up after school. I was the only one who refused. I had another teacher who used classroom time to tell each one of us why we were no good, I was no good because I had a handicap.

You are doing a really good job because bullying is always going to be a thing. There a lot of people out there who are against bullying but what good is that? We can't just put an end to all bullying. Bullying will always happen and we need more people like you who teaches us how to deal with them. I think a lot of victims think they need to be a good fighter to deal with bullies. No you don't. You can deal with them verbally. Learn how to argue but not fight.

I mean it's not hard to solve bullying. Suspend the bully and after the second time they do it expell them
