VIDEO #59 ATMOSVERSE NOTES
- Per the World Anvil maps this video takes place in Maramures Village in southern Wellingthorpe. Anna and the POV Character were preparing to visit the area for a philanthropic conference in Video #55 (Tailor Shop)
- First appearance of the Vampire; per her World Anvil profile her name is Lady Asetti
- "And your smell...as if you were prepared." Almaase the Fortune Teller warned the POV Character about these creatures in Video #54 (Fortune Teller Caravan) and gave them a special potion to apply like a perfume
- "You've been walking with her. She's one of us." Per Anna's World Anvil profile she inherited an ancestral castle in Wallachia; in Video #19 (Gossips at the Tailor Shop) Amelia spread the rumor that she had been adopted in Transylvania
- The vampires/valkyries are quoting Sonnet 24 by William Shakespeare, first published in 1609

This is exactly how I think vampires should vibe - otherworldly beauty, maximum creep factor. The way she whip lashes between menace and flattery, manipulation ("Are you a cruel person?") trying every trick in her likely very long book to get inside. The nail tapping, like Cathy at the window in Wuthering Heights, it's perfectly quietly terrifying.

The change in tone with that initial “why not” is truly spine chilling.
Scary monsters are all well and good, but subtle aggressive changes in the way people speak to us will always be deeply distressing on a cellular level.

i love the concept of just staring at a vampire that’s unable to enter your home through the window for like a half hour just letting them ramble

I love how you play on the folklore that vampires can't enter your home without being invited in, hence why the vampire is trying to guilt the person to either let her in or to come outside. Beautiful video.

I know the tapping and scraping on the glass is for ASMR but I think it fits into the story in a scary way. It’s like the vampire is reminding/trying to tell the villager of how thin the glass is that separates the two.

The dogs barking during the ambiance was a nice touch. As if insinuating they saw the vampires and were warding them off.

The end was so scary…. The way you couldn’t see her on the screen so you would assume she is gone yet you could still hear that familiar taunting tapping.

The shift from pleading to be let in to the ominous "Why not?" at 2:55 is downright chilling. Excellent performance, each one of your characters feels so unique I almost forget they're all played by the same person.

the part around 7:47 really gets to me. it gets so quiet after the crows or ravens leave, it's completely silent. I grew up somewhere heavily forested and the one thing to look out for is when things go silent because that means a predator is around. I don't think it was intentional but it sure did creep me out lol

I want to add: the effect of the vampires suddenly hanging upside down and tapping the window is super creepy/unsettling. Fantastically done!

Man the person in the house has a lot of patience, standing at the window this long. They need curtains lol

I don't know about you guys but the "Why not ?" at 2:55 is absolutely chilling. Her "scared" expression slowly shifting into a more menacing one and her sudden change in her tone, basically her breaking out of character and losing enough patience to actually let her mask fall is so scary to me.

2:51 gave me CHILLS the tone shift from begging and pleading to cold judgement was so good, this is lovely overall but this moment in particular grabbed me

The scariest part (or most mind boggling) has to be that incessant tapping. You hear it from beginning to end. When she's gone, you can't help but wonder if she really left or if it's another tactic to get you to become curious and go outside, because the tapping is insistent all the way through.

I like how she references she is "not one of those night thieves" indicating that in this world that vampires, and their threats are common enough that the person on the other side of the glass is aware that this is most likely a vampire, but there must also be some kind of doubt in that same universe, that you are leaving a poor defenseless woman to be attacked by vampires or other threats.

10:43 This part scares me so much, after revealing herself to be an immortal vampire, she just casually leans against the doorframe, you can see her looking around the room behind you, and up and down at you, she's still thinking of a way to get in ☹ Seems like she's done it a million times. The way she taps on the glass is like she's reminding you how thin it is, how close she actually is to you. I imagine the villagers are all deathly afraid of her, all they can do is remind each other to lock their doors at night.
There are people who choose to portray vampires as high, cold, elegant, careful, watchful etc. This one is a different kind of vampire, brazen, animalistic, straight up climbs onto walls and hangs upside down to peer inside your house. Sometimes it doesn't have to be subtle to be terrifying. For me, people who barely try hiding their intentions, but fully expect you to do their bidding anyway, they are more terrifying. Out of all the halloween asmr videos this year, this has been my favourite. It genuinely scares me, and yet manipulation #8 is super tingly, so I keep returning to watch it again.

This feels like the dark fantasy version of "We're here to inform you about your car's extended warranty". Incredibly relaxing and terrifying, I love it.

I've seen this video so many times since she's put this out and only just now did I realize the subtle red eye glow at 0:46 when she realizes there is a potential victim in the window and her personality shifts. The attention to detail is just never commendable enough.

I really like that in the 'Valkyries leave' part you can actually still hear the sound of tapping and scratching. They are still there.
