VIDEO #54 ATMOSVERSE NOTES
- The Fortune Teller first appeared in Video #40 (Fortune Teller in the Train) in which she met Anna and the POV Character as they traveled back from Mayhorn. Per her World Anvil profile her name is Almaase
- The POV Character has a slightly different appearance now because, as Agent SleepWalker, they received a fresh disguise from the disguise booth attendant in Video #52 (Private Jet)
- "Secret pockets? How smart." SleepWalker had magical pockets installed in their armor by the Elven blacksmith in Video #44 (Elven Blacksmith)
- Almaase is the "ground contact" that Sleepwalker was intructed to meet in Video #52; they give her the box that the Agent/Spy Heroine provided in that video
- Almaase owns candle-holders shaped like the House With Chicken Legs and its owner, both seen in Video #24 (House on Chicken Legs)... or possibly Baba Yaga, the folkloric equivalent from Earth
- The message that Almaase is decrypting was intercepted by the VSB before Video #52 and is from Anna's father; although presumed dead he has apparently been living in El-Rah for 150 years
- SleepWalker had the opportunity to take a pair of glasses belonging to Anna's father while they were staying at her home in Daerington Manor during Video #46 (Mysteries of the Sound Vibrations)
- "That orange friend of yours" is the Agent, who joked in Video #52 that she would be "hanging in a chimney as usual" during the mission
- Almaase warned Anna about SleepWalker's true nature during Video #40, saying that her friend "lived in three worlds"
- SleepWalker is "lost in the net of their memories" as a side effect of their dive travels to El-Rah, as noted in Video #41 (Pulling Spy Bugs Out of Your Hair)

she has a way of saying certain phrases that is very peculiar and pleasant at the same time: "it´s not important, it´s not important, it´s not important", "you´ll sleep LIKE A BAABY" and "secret pockets, HOW SMAART" .I love it.

At 14:15 she's talking about the "let me in" video, where we face a vampire on our window, and even though the vampire tried to manipulate us into letting it in, in this video she gave us a special potion for these types of creatures. So cool how every episode is connected. Beautiful work!

I like that she potentially sees right through us and what we're up to and instead of being alarmed by whatever she's seeing she's just like "huh cool let's hang out"

after watching the present-day spy videos IT ALL MAKES SENSE.

- in the "private jet" episode, agent orange (my placeholder name for anastasia's present-time character lol, the "orange friend" mentioned here) gives our next assignment: to meet a "ground contact" who we've met before and give them a box. this video shows almaase (the fortune teller) to be that ground contact, and she apparently asked agent orange (and therefore VSB, the agency we're part of) for the device in the box. so almaase knows about VSB and even works with them, and is also connected to el-rah (the elven runes in the sheheron/seahorse box, the message delivered through the mirror at the end).

- agent orange tells us that VSB received an encrypted message from lady anna's father. in the victorian timeline she says that he is either dead or missing, but agent orange says that he has been "kept" in el-rah for 150 earthly years. here we see almaase decrypt the message, which is a haiku by matsuo basho and apparently very famous in japan, as other commenters have pointed out (the more you know!). its meaning and composition is more complex than the english translation would have you think, so i'm personally not sure what anna's father was trying to convey. it may become clearer in future episodes.

- almaase admits that she told anna more about us than she was supposed to, but in the belief that "the wrong words might lead to the right results." she says that anna was already beginning to suspect something anyway, and rewatching the train video (vol. 7 in the victorian series) we can actually kind of see that, though anna hasn't asked about it or even treated us any differently. i don't think we're allowed to tell her about her father; we're agents on a mission, after all.

- after decrypting the message, almaase guesses that we're confused about "what's been and what is", which is maybe referring to the order that videos are uploaded in (as expected, even the schedule plays a part in anastasia's story).

- in the first present-day video ("pulling spy bugs out of your hair") agent orange asks if we've seen a dragon in el-rah. in this video almaase uses a dragon candle as one of the "knots" in her decrypting ritual. guys...i think anastasia is rendering a dragon in unreal engine rn.

- the secret pockets almaase notices at the beginning are almost definitely the same ones we had made in the elven blacksmith video. that same video might've also foreshadowed the ending of this one, since the blacksmith accidentally took out a scroll from her storage that wasn't hers (maybe it was the same scroll as here?? but the timeline definitely wouldn't make sense). the "unauthorized hacking" the message is talking about is probably almaase's decryption of the message, so unfortunately she is in trouble.

i am even more intrigued about the story now, which is saying something because i was already thinking of fanfiction about this series. almaase is directly involved in 3 timelines? are we going to look for anna's father in el-rah? will we see a dragon????

This episode contains so many references to previous ones. In addition to Anastasia's prompts there are others. For example 1:43 is a reference to blacksmith, 7:20 to episode with house on chicken legs, seahorses everywhere and scroll from another timeline at 27:00 (El Rah is a name of this area in medieval era according to lore).
