Lyrics:
God I wish somebody would told me when I was younger
That all bodies aren’t the same
Photoshop, itty bitty models on magazine covers
Told me I was overweight
I stopped eating what a bummer
Can’t have carbs and a hot girl summer
If I could go back and tell myself when I was younger
I’d say, psst

I know Victoria’s Secret
Girl you wouldn’t believe
She’s an old man who lives in Ohio
Making money off of girls like me

Cashing in on body issues
Selling skin and bones with big boobs

I know Victoria’s Secret
She was made up by a dude

I wish somebody would have told me that thighs of thunder
Meant normal human thighs
The fucking pressure I was under
To lose my appetite
And fight the cellulite
With Hunger Games like every night
If I could go back and tell myself when I was younger
I’d say psst—

I know Victoria’s Secret
Girl you wouldn’t believe
She’s an old man who lives in Ohio
Making money off of girls like me

Cashing in on body issues
Selling skin and bones with big boobs

I know Victoria’s Secret
She was made up by a dude

I know Victoria’s Secret…
She was never made for me and you

Raised in New Jersey by way of New York, Jax got her start by performing a wide variety of genres and in bands growing up. At the age of 18, she developed cancer above her vocal cords, which returned following a couple months of remission right as she relocated to Los Angeles in pursuit of her music. Left unable to sing herself, Jax turned to songwriting for others and found industry success behind-the-scenes. As her ability to perform returned, Jax needed to pivot yet again when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. This time she turned to TikTok, posting a hilarious response to the pop gem “Stacy’s Mom” from “Stacy’s Mom’s Perspective” which exploded with nearly 9 million views in just a few months and follow-ups including “Update from Avril Lavigne & Sk8er Boi 18 years later.” She continued to go viral a dozen or more times over, having now amassed over 9.7 million followers on the platform and over 155 million “likes” to date. With a massive online audience under her belt, Jax began sharing her own original music in late 2020 to an overwhelmingly positive response – ultimately leading to her signing with Atlantic Records for her forthcoming debut full-length.

I'm 51 years old. I sincerely needed this song 4 decades ago. I don't feel as bad about my body or that I was never able to shop there. Thank you

I'm currently playing this song on repeat while forcing myself to cook dinner after a pretty bad eating disorder trigger. I've been fighting this since I was a tween (now mid thirties) and is mostly recovered these days, but for the bad days this is truly the anthem I needed <3 Thank you so much for making this.

As a 29 year old who is disabled & was never confident in her own skin, this song means everything!

I found this song today, and it’s already one of my favorites. I love the message about fighting weight based insecurities. Although I’m a guy, and have never suffered anything like anorexia, I was chubby in middle school, and HATED my body. Then I lost weight to be healthy going into my freshman year of high school. Throughout high school, I was pretty thin, but I was still heavier than a small handful of my friends. Despite the fact I was on the thinner side, my weight based insecurities came back with a vengeance during my junior year, recreating a struggle that I still deal with almost two years later. Despite countless efforts to feel good in my body, I still have a hard time loving the body that I have. It wasn’t until about a month ago that I started making progress when I decided to listen to “Perfect” by P!nk. It was the first time hearing the song in seven years. From that point on, the lyric “you’re so mean when you talk, about yourself you’re wrong. Change the voices in your head, make them like you instead” has always stuck with me. Whenever I feel insecure, I try to remember that lyric. Thankyou for making this song, not only to inspire young women to reject societal Views on weight, but also all the other youth (boys and girls alike) to not give into what fast fashion says about beauty, but rather on their health and happiness.

As a father of daughters I sincerely thank you for this song.
Keep up the good work.
You are helping to keep beautiful young ladies out of the ER from self inflicted starvation and off the operating tables wanting to mutilate themselves for an unrealistic standard.
Again.
I sincerely thank you.

This song changed my entire perspective on my body. I haven't worn a bathing suit and gone swimming in over 2 years because I gained weight and felt I didn't deserve to wear one. Today was the most beautiful day and I bought a new bathing suit and spent the afternoon swimming. It was amazing. Thank you x a million.

I’m 34 years old and my daughter will be 12 this year and she is OBSESSED with this song, and it was a great conversation starter about body insecurity and the struggles of middle school.

THANK YOU!

This is such an important message. I’m 52. When I was younger I thought I was disgusting and fat. I look back at photos and wonder how I ever thought that.I thought 140 pounds at 5’5 made me not worthy when I was actually fit, athletic, strong and healthy. I wish I had heard this message from someone as beautiful and talented as Jax.

To be completely honest, no song ever really "changed my life, " but I've been so insecure (me and every other person in the world) but this came out right when I was in the depths of it. Thank you for your hard work and amazing songwriting, Jax!!!
