Ottawa – This Ontario city is where you’ll find charming old-world buildings surrounded by picturesque natural beauty. Check out our amazing footage of Canada’s capital.

The first stop on an #Ottawa #vacation should be the Rideau Canal. This waterway cuts the city in half, and it provides places for boating and paddleboarding during the summer. You can go ice skating along the Rideau when it ices over in winter.

Head to ByWard Market, where you’ll find some of the best fresh produce you’ll ever taste. Stock up on fruits and vegetables while you’re there.

#Visit the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. This is where you can tour recreations of Old Canada: explore 1800s storefronts, wander into log cabins, and learn about the First Nations people. The National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building full of art from Canadian, European, and other North American artists.

Round out your trip with a venture to Gatineau Park, where you can relax by the lake or take tea in the MacKenzie King estate.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Truly, last statement won my heart. Canada has everything from lush green forest to snow clad mountains. In short, Canada has nature in it's pristine form. Love Canada from India ❤🙂

Pros and Cons of Ottawa as a resident:

Pros: Relaxing atmosphere, wilderness just minutes away, transit system is decent, good museums, small town feel in a big city, mostly everyone is friendly, rideau canal in winter for skating, plenty of local parks, 4 distinct seasons, employment is generally strong but pigeonholed into certain sectors - cost of living is low compared to bigger cities.

Cons: It's way too cold in winter and it lasts too long, the city is largely silent in winter, lacks an obvious style (something that says - Ottawa), city maintenance is too slow, not enough festivals, government workers increase rush hour by 2 hours (really needs more roads), if you aren't into sport or the outdoors there isn't enough to do, and the city is really spread out.

Conclusion: If you love the outdoors and embrace every season but also love friendly people and small cities this is a great place for you! For me it is a good compromise, I just have to make it through the winter and I'm fine :).

UPDATE: Ottawa is no longer the 4th largest city in Canada, it is the 6th largest now. Calgary and Edmonton are now both larger than Ottawa in terms of population.

Adore Ottawa. It is the considerable jewel of Canada. The city which is a medley of two incredible culture's The English and the French. And the community of welcoming spirit.

Ottawa, the city where 1/2 of Discovering was born! We always visit friends and family and we love to go back! A great tip for visitors is to visit Ottawa during the "Ottawa Tulip Festival", which gives lots of colours and fun to the city, where tourists will find lots of events going on too!

Ottawa is the capital because it's on the border with Ontario (English Canada) and Quebec (French Canada)

For anyone who says Ottawa is boring, please understand any city is boring if you dont go out to do stuff. While cities like Toronto and Montreal have very in-your-face flashy attractions, in Ottawa you have to venture a little deeper to discover some really cool things. There are so many cool places to visit that just aren’t obvious, but once you find them you’ll truly feel fulfilled!

Looks like a beautiful town to spend a couple days in but I don't think any one below 40 would want to live there full time.
