*Note, the static friction force only does 0 force when the ball is rolling on a horizontal surface. When a ball is rolling without slipping on a slope, static friction DOES perform a force in order to combat the force of gravity that wants the ball to slip. One effect of this static friction force is torque, and this is why a ball rolling without slipping down an incline angularly accelerates.
