Make sure you are using an m.2 port and not a data mini pcie port. Use the one your wlan card is plugged in to. Also that laptop may need you to flash a custom bios as the m.2 port could be locked to certain wlan cards.

biggest point here is regardless of bottlenecks this thing made his net top run 10x faster. you dont get the full throughput of a desktop x16 but if you DONT want to make a whole build from scratch this is 100% worth the money. people who complain about the bottlenecks dont understand that building a whole PC with perfect cpu isnt the point with eGPU its to make a current device faster. You can find used laptops for super cheap sometimes free and with around $150 total you can play GTA V or some other games and work on some solid stuff.

mPCIE is electrically identical to an x1 PCIe slot. These adapters are available on amazon for the same price, you don't have to important them from overseas.

Very nice video. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z400 and it has a dedicated GForce. Do you think I can use this eGPU that you show on the video? Thanks!

also, if you try an nvidia gpu for adobe you might get a better result. Adobe designed the CUDA specific workflow. and check the setting for the Open CL. You may get more bypass of the CPU for work.

R7 270 is either the HD 7850 or 7870 rebranded with faster VRAM (officially they should be the 7850, aka Pitcairn PRO, but the Pitcairn XT chip did get used in a few), the HD 79xx cards got rebranded as R9 280 and 280X... and I'm pretty sure the purchase of ATi by AMD happened right before the Radeon HD 2000 series cards, back in 2006, but kept the branding around until 2010. edit: and I looked up when ATi got bought and when the branding was dropped. the HD 2000 series was launched in 2007. I'm not sure why they dropped the ATi branding in 2010 when they were still using ATi developed architectures for flagship cards, when it was 2012 when the AMD developed GCN replaced Terrascale on their flagship cards.)

If you have a dedicated gfx card you just have to disable it in the BIOS, and delete the drivers.

You should have a look at it with the last big Windows 10 update the GPU usage column in the task-manager is really helpful for things like this (it also works surprisingly well with multi GPU etc.)

can you do a refresh on this for 2020? there are nvme m.2 slots now and maybe this works better than the thunderbolt options out there?

Hello, do you think you could make a video on how to make EXP DGC eGPU work on Linux? (mini PCIE or expresscard method, please).

AMD bought ATI in 2006. your HD 7950 is from 2012... adn it was relaunched later as R7 280, not 270
