MicroNugget: How to Do an Initial Setup of the Cisco MDS
Показать описание
In this video, Anthony Sequeira covers the initial setup of a Cisco MDS device. MDS devices make up the backbone of the storage area networking component of a modern data center, and knowing how to configure one is crucial for data center administrators.
This video is pulled from a series of courses designed to prepare learners for the DCUFI certifying exam, which is now retired. But knowledge and familiarity with configuring MDS devices is no less important, it's simply been migrated to other certifications. If your organization relies on storage area networking devices, you'll need to be familiar with the series of configuration options you'll be presented with when you boot one up from factory default configurations.
See firsthand the prompts you'll be asked when setting up an MDS device. At the outset are passwords and account creation. Then, SNMP community strings, naming the switch, and out-of-band management configuration. This leads to assigning the IP address, netmask and default gateway. The list goes on to include all the configuration options and settings, as well as how to review them before applying them, and change them after the fact.
