Immediately after an ortho appointment, a bracket of mine that was newly placed on broke off. I didn't even do anything. I the girl working on me was so pissed off and refused to believe I didn't do anything. This has made me feel validated for once

So, when my orthodontist put on my bottom brackets, I went home, and about two hours later I felt a click in my mouth and the bracket had fell off. I told my mom and she said she could call in the morning. I wake up the next day, and two more brackets have fallen off. At this point I’m a bit freaked out, but I stay quiet because I’m worried my mom will be disappointed that I’m knocked off so many brackets. Finally, I’m eating lunch, Mac and Cheese (reasonably soft food) and my ENTIRE ROW of bottom brackets freaking falls off and the wire is hanging out of my mouth attached by one single bracket. Turns out it was a bonding issue, my teeth were too smooth and they were using the wrong glue. I’ve never had a bracket fall off other than that day.

my bracket broke while i was sleeping one night and when i woke up in the morning, it was flipped upside down but still attached to the wire because of my rubber band. and i was so confused how it even came off because i obviously wasn’t eating anything. so i told my stepmom and she immediately blamed me even though i told her that i was asleep but she continued saying that it was me and asked what i had eaten the days before like what-

My bracket fell off a minute after the dentist fixed it. I just bit down and it fell off . It was the same tooth btw

ONLY 1 (yes, only one) bracket fell off during my THREE YEARS journey of wearing braces. It fell of on my 23RD MONTH 😉 TIP: Don't exert 'too much' force when chewing or biting or eating something, regardless if the food's soft or hard to eat. If you feel like your tooth moved or was pushed even 'slightly' while biting something, LET THAT FOOD GO, or you'll risk your bracket to fall off 😉

the same two brackets broke off every month which made me so frustrated but after a year, the dentist finally realized my canine teeth were so long it kept hitting my bracket and shaved them down (i miss my canine teeth so much UGH)

EXACTLY!!! My point be proven! My orthodontist didn’t dry off any of my teeth and then didn’t use the things that widen our lips! So of course my teeth had saliva on them and when BOTH of my front brackets broke off only 1 HOUR later after getting my braces, there wasn’t a single bit of glue on my teeth😭

I'm a dental assistant for a orthodontic office. For me, it's no big deal if a patient brake their brackets off. It's actually a very easy and fast process to fix. But It's their choice whether they want to always visit us to get it back on and it's their choice if they want to prolong their treatment. It's our job to be there to attend our patients no matter what. I'm sorry if you guys experienced assistants that are moody.

One time I broke a bracket whale eating a melty chocolate bar. The orthodontist told me he could tell it wasn't my fault. After putting a new one on HE then accidentally broke it off Again, and had to put a 3rd one on.😂

I had like 5 open brackets (not broken, the gate was just open so the wire was coming out) but I *swear* I didn't do anything. My orthodontist just kind of hummed when I replied "no" to her asking if I'd eaten something sticky but I'm innocent istg!! I've been avoiding sticky and gummy foods like the plaque, I even declined any food freebies on freshers week that weren't allowed 😭💔

My first bracket broke less than a week after getting my braces on. My overbite caused me to bite down on my lower braces making it break off. I was so scared😭

Two broke off while I was getting a new wire applied and they still tried to charge me for that but I insisted that it wasn’t my fault

One time the orthodontist literally forgot to glue one of the brackets on

This happened to me once. Turns out they need to use the amount of glue to cover my whole tooth to make three of my brackets stay.
