The Google Sheets IMPORTRANGE function enables cross-spreadsheet referencing, allowing a range of cells from another spreadsheet (or tab within the same sheet) to be imported. With this function, users can have their data in multiple sheets while still having the ability to view it with the IMPORTRANGE formula.

I can not thank you enough! I watched the offical Google video and kept getting errors because I didn't realize they wanted the tab name, I thought they wanted the page name (Face plam) Thank you!

Question -

I can do this initial step without issue.

I am only dragging names in Sheet 1 Column A, B-E have a set of information I do not want to follow, but Sheet 2 will be filled with new information
Consider the following, where Jeff is the new addition. I want Jeff to have a blank row after his name in Sheet 2 to track different information than in Sheet 1, but the issue I always have is Sheet 2 B-Z does not follow with their people.

EXAMPLE ISSUE TARGET
Sheet 1 Sheet 2 1 Sheet 2
Bob Bob 1 Bob Q Bob 1
Tony Tony 2 Tony X Tony 2
Jeff P Jeff 3 Jeff P Jeff
Greg Greg 4 Greg Greg 3
Doug Doug Doug Doug 4

How can I set it where the following columns are blank in Sheet 2 so I can add in that tab's information?
I just don't want to update 3 sheets' worth of names every time someone joins or quits.

Hi,
I want to check on a case scenario- In case some data changes in the original sheet, does the data in other sheet(the one in which all data was imported) also get s automatically checked since its linked to the original sheet?

Hey! thank you so much for the deepdive about this beautiful function. I am curios if it is possible crosslink 2 files between eachother in the same table. I hope I'm not confusing you too much. Basically I have 2 tables: Questions and Answers. And I just want to connect them together. But the challenge is when the row is inserted in Questions table, I am having misaligned response rows from Question table.

I'm really curious about this idea since it would allow me a data exchange without oversharing the file where the Experts are answering the questions.

I really appreciate your support!

What if I want to import data from a sheet that updates, so the data that I need in for example A2623 (which is the same text all the time), might be in A2444 the next day? I want to import median prices from one spreadsheet for certain items, to my spreadsheet, but the cell which the data is in will change every day...
