YES!
When we started selling those few years ago in a bookstore I work in (Kraków, Poland), all conversations with customers started drifting towards admiring how beautiful they looked instead of discussing the content of the books xD
But we warn them when the content itself is terrible

Yep all our bookshops tend to have sprayed edges books especially (or more likely) in the youth and ya sections. Tons of them even in small bookstores. Sadly though, German books cost twice as much as English ones ONLY in paperback. Then in hardcover and sprayed edges or even special edition.. nah uh. lucky me i hate reading in my native language -v-
