19:07 This meme refers to Nils Olav, a penguin from the Edinburgh Zoo that was adopted by the Norwegian King's Guard and is currently held by Nils Olav III, all because Norway gifted the zoo its first king penguin in 1913, two years after Roald Amundsen reached the South Pole. 21:50 This one pokes fun at the fact that despite Norway being way outclassed by Nazi Germany in WW2, they still managed to sink the Blücher, a German heavy cruiser.

They mentioned that in oversimplified civil war part 2. Stonewall Jackson was killed by confederate troops returning at night.

"He was rejected and he was kinda lost." This probably made Hitler's father angry, and he would have punished him severely, but he was dead.

The Canadian one is about the War of 1812. While England was bogged down fighting Napoleon the Americans tried and failed to capture Canada.

I believe that the clip at 17:30 was a jab at Americans during the war of 1812. They declared war on Canada while Britain was fighting in Europe against Napoleon, and pushed into niagara, but were eventually repulsed at even pushed back into America by the Canadian militia. In the end the war did not result in an American victory, however the person making the meme seems to think that Americans think otherwise.

Sincerely a proud Canadian.

16:50 Wow. Mr. Terry forgot that time he learned about the confederate general dying to friendly fire? That’s crazy man, we need to get him some vitamins.

The penguin one is a reference to Sir Nils Olav III who is a Brigadier in the norway army

Here's the thing about that story: the main reason he survived was that he loved the sound of his own voice so much. He had his speech folded up in his breast pocket. The bullet had to pass through his speech before entering his body. The speech was something like 25 pages long and folded up, so he basically had half a phonebook strapped to his chest.
"It takes more than that to stop a bull moose!", which is how his party got their name (he was running for a third term, so he had to change parties).

I'm still amazed that even history teachers don't know the Stonewall Jackson story! I thought that was one of the more infamous stories to come out of the Civil War.

Story behind confederate meme-they accidentally killed one of their generals that way.

26:17 it's a Flex Tape meme. Basically the dude (Phill Swift), to show the "power" of his product, he just breaks things to then fix them with his goddamn tape (he literally saw a boat in half in a commercial)

7:34
There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks, he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Bible like a preacher full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher women would desire

*Ra-Ra-Rasputin, lover of the Russian queen*
*There was a cat that really was gone*
*Ra-Ra-Rasputin, Russia's greatest love machine*
*It was a shame how he carried on*

I wonder what 9-year-old-meme would have thought if someone told me, "Hey kid... one day, you're gonna stop playing video games so you can watch this history teacher on YouTube..."

I probably would have thought, "WTF is Youtube?"

17:46 This is referring to the War of 1812. It's very inaccurate, considering that it was British troops stationed in Canada from overseas who did the fighting, Canada was not even formed at that time, and not a single Canadian casualty occurred. Also, as an American, they don't even teach us that we won the war. We just say it was a tie because it ended impressment of American sailors, it was the first American war against a great foreign power without aid, but we failed to conquer Canada. It's one of the few wars the Canadians even participated in, so I think we should just let them have it if they're so insistent.
