Philomena Cunk is asking historians the REAL questions! How many 3 wise men were there? When you teach kids Shakespeare, do their heads physically grow bigger?

The actress playing Philomena said in an interview that they know they're being interviewed for a comedy show, but they don't know anything about the questions that will be asked.

She also said that they start the interview by asking some serious questions to lull them into a false sense of security before switching to the insane ones.

Apparently one interviewee got so angry that he had to be calmed down by the production team.

“Do you like ABBA?” “I love ABBA” from the most serious and toughest looking guy cracks me up every time 😂👍

That part when she fake cried when talking about nuclear warheads is so underrated. In my line of work (I work with funerals) I have seen so many types of grief and talked to many that grieve for the loss of their loved ones. I understand if there are people who think she over do it or cringe when she fake cries but Philomena came close to fool me in that scene. To me that is scary good acting!

She visited Shakespeare’s school and explained that his school days were not so boring, because he did not have to do Shakespeare!

Philomena is amazing, her delivery is always spot on. And no, it's not scripted, but some experts just catch on quicker than others.

Diane Morgan started working in comedy doing standup in 2005, and this character of 'Philomena Cunk' debuted in 2013 in Charlie Brookers 'Screenwipe.' She was born in 1975, which means that she was 14 when the Belgian group Technotronic released their techno-album 'Pump up the Jam.'

"Can you imagine what it would feel like to be sucked off through a hole." That was absolutely brilliant. Poor Dr. Cox. lol

Watching the uncomfortable guests is gold. Trying to honestly answer the question without laughing, being annoyed, or offended. It's so great, and she is a master deadpan comedian.

Philomena Cunk is a characterisation by the actress Diane Morgan. Philomena Cunk was written as a series of 5 minute clips, by Charlie Brooker, for his show Screenwipe. It proved to be extremely popular and was promoted into s separate 30 minute show on its own. You will know Brooker, he also wrote Black Mirror.

There are some throw away lines that get lost. People lose their minds to the “female king”, but sleep on clever bits like “a fork in the crossroads”. The writing in this series is top tier

The joke at 06:57 never fails to make me cry with laughter. It’s a shame that it flies by a lot of people though.

She reminds me a lot of Stephen Colbert on his old Colbert Report show where he was always in character and that character was a painfully sincere idiot. It always impressed me how he was able to maintain character no matter what was going on or being said. I never thought anyone else could do it as well as he did but Diane Morgan does it at least as well and maybe better.

She is an actor/comedian and her real name is Diane Morgan, she is a very very funny lady :) and the people being interviewed don’t know it is a joke, it’s a bit like Ali G or Borat back in the day. The people involved don’t know it’s a joke until after.

I’m pretty sure the people being interviewed don’t know it’s a joke. She’s the only one in on the joke lol

What is truly amazing is that people actually do learn stuff this way. For most of us it is merely a reminder of the history we already know but by looking at it from a very different perspective we see something new. Imagine if every teacher you ever had from kinder garden to university was half as entertaining as Philomena. Scientists say the way we learn best is by interacting with the subject matter (more than listening, reading, watching) we learn best when we talk about stuff, we repeat and discuss, debate and make connections. You should check out Horrid Histories!

She's hilarious! But you need to watch one of her history programmes in full. The compilation is a bit all over the place and difficult to really get an appreciation of how funny and clever she really is! 😂

Diane Morgan has been doing these for years, they definitely know who she is by now. She’s talked about it on chat shows.
