The TRUTH About Biblical Angels

What are biblically accurate angels really like? What is the truth about biblical angels? Angels are mentioned so many times in the bible, but why does it seem like we all have so many unanswered questions about them? Much of our understanding of angels comes from sci-fi movies and cultural myths and not the bible. I call this “The Hollywood Effect.” Truth is, angels in the bible are extremely complex spiritual beings that have never had a monolithic or universal understanding in scripture or in Jewish and Christian history. In this video I will trace the history of angels in the bible and discuss how and why our concept of angels has deviated so much from the biblical text.

10:40 The four animals are representative of the 4 elements of creation. Lion - Fire, Ox (water buffalo) - Water, Eagle - Air, Man - Earth (see "Au H2O" for correction in comments below). The wheels within the wheels can be thought of as atoms. When the elements of creation move, the atoms move and create accordingly. When the elements are not in motion, what is is, but no new is created. They are also similar to the letters of God's name; the yud, hay, vav, hay of Creation. They also are used for creation in different combinations on a higher level than the elements. You'll also find these same animals on the Wheel of Destiny tarot card.

Madeleine L'Engle was adamant that angels weren't cute or adorable, rather they were more terrifying than anything and she portrayed them as such!
Children who have died either by mishap, abuse or disease are often described as now being an angel in Heaven as a comfort or answer to the question "why did this happen?" (and it's corollary "Why did God allow this to happen?")... "well, we don't know why, but at least they're angels in Heaven now"...
I always think whenever I hear "Oh, he/she's just a little angel" oh yeah? Which one? Angel of Death? Weeping Angel? 🤣

The thing I love about Ezekiel is how the awkward, inarticulate and nonsensical description of the vision enhances rather than detracts from the narrative. It reads exactly the way it should: An attempt to relate an encounter with the ineffable in human language that inevitably succeeds only in demonstrating the futility of even trying.
Quick edit to mention one of my favourite personal speculations: Ezekiel's Ophanim and other weird descriptions of space or motion might make more sense to us if we were able to visualise more than three dimensions.
