#CeylonCinnamon #Cinnamon
Ceylon cinnamon is native to just one region of the world. And producing it requires hours of delicate work. Even the most skilled workers can make only a few pounds of quills a day. One pound of cinnamon quills can cost $27. But not all spices labeled "cinnamon" are the Ceylon variety. Many in the Western market are actually cheaper types of cinnamon called cassia. So what makes Ceylon cinnamon so favorable? And why is it so expensive?

I'm over 60 years old and I learnt so much from this video that I never new before. Thank you for understanding how much effort goes into this product and the differences in labelling. I hope the heritage of the Ceylon Cinnamon continues for many generations to come.

Good documentary. I am from Sri Lanka, and there is a trend in here to produce high quality cinnamon with global certification by young generation rather than traditional methods with transparancy

Yet Sri Lanka has still yet to patent its own high quality luxury cinnamon brand with premium packaging, even with black pepper. It simply sells it to western brands to resell.

I just watched this video, as I switched to eating ceylon cinnamon last year, and staying away from cassia cinnamon. There are a lot of fraudulent ceylon cinnamon products in this country, and thru research and watching videos, I will be able to hopefully order something authentic.

Great Vedio. BUT cinnamon is not that expensive here in srilanka. Processed 1 pound cost around 3.5-5 USD

Never knew about cassia. Why cant we simply get what we are asking for. Almost everything nowadays has a substitute and the consumer has to keep reseraching. From olive oil, to cinnamon. Such a pain.

Agree 100% They say it is a hard scrupulous work that takes long time (what is true), but they didn't mention that workers are paid no more than 2$ a day for it!! And those big packages of barks are bought for cents, but sold for 30$. It is obvious why their children aren't interested in the sphere, because they see how their fathers work hard having no choice, but still live in poverty for 40 years. rotten world

You give the impression that these producers of cinnamon are paid well. When the simple reason it's expensive it's exploitation and exaggerated markup by the retailer lol
