The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST is the best electric performance pickup truck to buy... on paper. But is it really a Tesla Cybertruck or Rivian R1T killer?

I would buy this over the cyber truck any day!

I don't understand why you're hating on this truck so much. It has twice the range of a cyber truck while towing at max capacity, the hitch probably won't ever snap off, it can be in the rain without the owner having to worry about it getting rusty, it has a bigger bed for ya know...TRUCK THINGS BECAUSE ITS A TRUCK, it has all the functionality of a regular gas powered Silverado. Like ok we get it, you like the cybertruck because it's "different", so take it and it's 10000 problems that come with it and we'll take literally any other car that actually works.

Saw JerryRigEverything's video on this, and tbh I'm not a truck guy, but this is the only EV truck I'd consider buying simply due to the range alone

Someone tested the range and actually got about 20 miles more than Chevy states.

I think competing with Tesla and Rivian isn't a problem for them. Those trucks aren't what truck buyers want and that market is much larger than the people that only want something subjectively cool. I'd pick this because it's better at being a truck. If I want something cool, it's not gonna be a weird pick up.

Its a work horse in my opinion, its not meant to be a asphalt "launch control" show off vehicle, this is way better than teslas cybertruck

I think you are spot on with your points. It's just an electric Silverado, but a lot of people want that. They don't want anything crazy. The area where this shines above the R1T and CT is the range. It's absolutely wild that some YouTubers have gotten 460 miles on a full charge out of this truck.

This will sell because it is more like a truck with great range. The price is its biggest hurdle.

Cybertruck reservation holder here. This Silverado EV isnt looking too bad. Really like the design and range. May try a test drive.

Id definitely choose this over the cybertruck. For me trucks don't ride that great anyway but the design, range and the fast charging do it. The price does not tho

If looking strange and hideous is "cool" nowadays, I guess the cyber truck is the better buy. But in my eyes, this Chevy RST is GORGEOUS.

I could’ve had the first comment, but I decided to watch the video all the way through instead and I gotta say that was a good video!

You hit the nail on the head, this truck is for the utilitarian, like a Gpaw or Dad. The Silverado is filled with hardware. This is more appealing to older people and people who don't want to spend thousands of dollars to replace electrical components. The cybertruck and R1T are aimed toward a different market. The R1T is more practical for my lifestyle because I am a city/beach dweller. Unlike my siblings, I don't live on countless hectares of homestead, needing to haul a massive daily workload with ease.

That being said, the range is amazing on the Silverado EV and you can get up to around 250 miles towing 6k! I don't see myself towing anything around 6k but that is pretty cool, considering that the Cybertruck and R1T have around 85-120 miles of range while towing 6k. The Silverado EV price tag is insane, but the range is unbeatable, especially for long distances like real road trips.

I think I am that middle consumer. I like some of the ev things. But I dont have any interest in the cybertruck, the rivans are growing on me. But what I really like about the Ford and Chevy are they are more traditional. No gear selectors and turn signals on a touch screen. In my opinion the Chevy is much, much cooler than cyber truck. A more successful version of the avalanche style. Cool for me is more in the utility of truck. I feel like I am the buyer for this truck, except I cant afford it, ha. Good to have so much choice in the truck segment... well unless you want a small body on frame truck

Cool (by my definition) is when a truck is capable of doing what a truck is supposed to do with the maximum range possible. The range (especially for towing) in this vehicle is what we've been waiting for. The Rivian and Cybertruck are great gimmick vehicles, but they do not deliver in the areas where we need a truck to perform. It's unique that a cybertruck can tow a Porsche very fast for 1/4 mile, but most truck buyers have very little use for excessively fast and extremely short towing.

It's driving dynamics I feel like are by design. This is an EV for truck people. Trucks just kind of inherently aren't the most exciting things. The reason why truck guys aren't wild about the other EV trucks is because they're more car-like than truck. I think this is the right move by GM imo.

Right around the 13:00 mark where you are describing the “lack luster” features of the truck…. Bro …. It’s not a cybertruck and it’s not suppose to be gimmicky. It has plenty of awesome features and it’s basically what the cybertruck should have been minus the “launch” mode but has the drop down mid gate. Don’t down play this truck because it’s not as “futuristic “ as a polygon truck

Miles I’m not sure where you’ve been but Tesla definitely didn’t beat *gm* to market. How does the Hummer not count? That is ridiculous and the GMC Hummer hate has got to be called out.

Thanks for being honest about the driving experience! Most channels didn't mention many things you did. Great video!
