Kinda crazy how this kickstarted a whole new industry and you can kind of tell that when Gaben first tried the oculus, he knew VR was going to be the future, which is why he went to work on valve's own headset.

Wow, this happened only a little more than three and a half years ago and right now I am holding my consumer Rift in my hands, the speed of development is astonishing and the technology is purely awesome.

I still have my DK1 neatly packaged here, and my consumer Rift right next to it. Right now reading the Book about Oculus and wanted to revisit the Video that started it all. Thank you very much.

Just bought a Quest 2. VR has come sooo far in such a short time. I remember watching this on their kickstarter back in high school. Man, has it been that long?

To think this was almost 10 years ago.. truly Oculus and Valve paved the way for modern VR. I remember watching videos of the Rift DK's with mild interest, but it wasn't until 2018 when I fell in love with virtual reality. Though it almost saddens me to see the direction Facebook/Meta has been taking this company, I'm also grateful for the amount of people who have been able to have access to it because of them.
Here's to the bright future of media consumption, and entertainment as a whole!

Happy 10 Years! 🥳 I'll never forget how impressed I was the first time I tried DK1. I'm still playing VR today with Quest Pro and PSVR2.

CV1 was an amazing headset, very light and comfortable, OLED screen with deep black colour. manual IPD setting and so on which are all missing from Quest 2 sadly

YES!! Finally!! The TRUE next step into the future for gaming!! The last time gaming saw such a revolutionary change was when it leapt from 2D into 3D.. After that nothing really spectacular changed other than graphics, storyline and gameplay..

Don't give me always online gaming, higher resolutions, quirky controllers of better fps.. GIVE ME DAMN VIRTUAL REALITY!!

Hats off to you guys!! Maybe this will rekindle my interest in modern gaming..!
