Why STAR TREK NEMESIS Isn't That Bad

Star Trek Nemesis has been the forefront of criticism since its release in 2002. Is the film this bad? Why is it this bad? For me, I think it is pretty underrated and an enjoyable look at some of Trek's usual motifs. Of course, it is PLAGUED with issues and can be downright dark/goofy at times. Still, I love the film for what it is.

Hey Tots, thanks for watching. This video was re-uploaded due to the fact that YouTube hid it. I'm sure it was something on my part or perhaps not. I'm hoping this one is viewed by more and you can all appreciate it!

Well, to add a smile to my face...Brent Spiner favorited the tweet with my video in it. It really means a lot. It's a giant band-aid on the situation but truly means a lot to me that Mr. Spiner would do something like that!

I don't get the Nemesis hate, it had an amazing final battle and it was fun and entertaining all the way through, unlike the boring slog that is Insurrection.

Nemesis was an excellent movie, I like it alot, it was tense and did have a sad ending. I've watched all the old TNG series and movies, and nemesis is up there with the best, it's alot better than star trek Picard lol, the Picard series is pretty bad

I'm going to have to disagree on the action being too long - at least in regards to the fight with the Scimitar. It was certainly cool but, going a step further, it deserved to be as long as it was.

The Scimitar was an absolute dreadnought compared to other ships. The weaponry and strength of said weaponry was powerful and steady enough to tear a target to shreds if it even so much as stuck within in its forward arc, forcing evasive maneuvers and also tanking the other disruptor banks present. It could cloak with no emissions and its shields active to prevent it from being damaged in that cloak, which was made harder even further by having primary and secondary shielding. Forcing ingenuity until Troi got the time and quiet to be able to focus. Maybe it was just me, but if it ended too soon, I would have felt massively cheated on what could have been a good and hard-earned fight.

I agree Nemesis isn't always that bad; Star Trek Insurrection on the other hand was awful and easily the worst TNG movie. This may be a weird question but I really wanted to ask this question to fellow Star Trek fans. If Star Trek Insurrection didn't kick the bucket when it comes to the old Prime Time Line but it still got the same reception (by critics, audiences, and fans), do you think the Paramount would've confident enough to make other Trek films off the other TV shows like Deep Space 9 or Voyager?

Nemesis was the Movie where the 1701-E finally could kick some real ass.
Something the JJ-Prise was NEVER allowed to do, the JJ Prise always faces off against overpowered big black Starships that completely outclass it and never even bothered to shoot back (it shot down a few torpedoes, it kept sucker punching the Narrada while it was sucked into a black hole, very obsolete and petty act, in Into Darkness it did not fire a single shot and in Beyond it got destroyed by a swarm of drones... oh boy, if they just had those 200 fighters from the STD Season 2 Finale with them that day...).

First Contact had a memorable but sadly way too short scene against the Borg Cube, the battle against the Baku Ships the next movie wasn't terrible but wasn't really that memorable of a Star Trek battle.
Without the big battle in Nemesis we would never really have gotten to see the big E going full pew pew, that alone makes the Movie worth watching.
Everything else about the movie, can be and has been discussed and argued to death.

Honestly Star Trek nemesis is an interesting movie lots of people hated it but for some reason I kind of liked it and it’s a 7/10 for me
Also this is a random question but have you watched avatar the last air bender because today I watched the series finale and it was really good so if you’ve watched it what do you think of it?

I’ve always been surprised by the negativity toward ST: Nemesis. I’ve always liked it and enjoy rewatching. I just wish the Enterprise E could have featured more in canon.

Hey, Its still a lot better than Discard.. At least they have some cool star ships and special effects, a pretty ambitious crash scene with the enterprise and a great send off to commander riker aiding the neutral zone.. No one can deny that this movie was still at least an optimistic send off to the TNG crew, no matter how lacking the movie is.. At the time in 2002 it was up against stiff competition, with the likes of Lord of the Rings and Matrix.. I still saw this movie in the theatre back then and was impressed.. But seriously, cbs has ruined this franchise now :( give it back to Paramount please..

I love Nemesis. When he is having dinner with Shinzon and says, "New Worlds." Gets me every time. The Remins look ridiculous. I also love "Generations" so what do I know.

I honestly love all the trek movies. Some more in their own way, but i enjoy then all greatly. Favorites are star trek 4 the voyage home and 7 generations. I felt it was the truest to tng out of all the tng films.

Hello Sir Tater ! Picard's clone looked awesome, I just wish he was on the show even if for a little while.

The main problem was the sand buggy scene and that shinzon wanted to attack earth instead romulus because of his enslavement by romulans. it made no sense.also i wanted to see d deridex ships instead of the super duper scimitar constructed by slaves in a mine. made no sense and having remans suddenly appear out of nowhere. the acting and dialogue was good.

I just can't sit through Nemesis for many of the main reasons mentioned. Why didn't the continuity people check out the 'Tapestry' TNG episode and the other TNG episode with a younger Picard and Beverly Crusher? Both of these show Picard with hair - not like that photo with Tom Hardy in a Starfleet cadet uniform, already bald. I can't stick it when continuity is disregarded so easily. Also wasn't keen on seeing the entire Romulan imperial senate disintegrated so quickly...

Nemesis is the Wrath of Khan of the TNG crew. Minus the dune buggy sequence I genuinely think nemesis is pretty solid.
I feel Shinzon being the dark reflection of Picard is a great parallel Of Data & B4 who both have to learn that a person is an accumulation of their experiences & not just their raw material. If so, there would be no difference between Shinzon/Picard or B4/data.
Data's sacrifice at the end is well earned and again a parallel of Spock in WoK. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

You did a good job highlighting all the classic Trek points in this film. I just wish they weren't so deeply buried in all the other stuff!
