What Forbidden Teachings Did Count Dooku Impart Upon Qui Gon Jinn?

By the age of ten, Qui Gon Jinn had already distinguished himself as one of the most promising students at the Jedi Academy. His exceptional skills caught the attention of Dooku, who secretly harboured ambitions of surpassing even Yoda in power and respect by mentoring such a gifted apprentice. Dooku encouraged Qui-Gon to question everything, including the doctrines of the Jedi High Council, telling him to sever all personal ties to make betrayal impossible, an individualistic interpretation of the Jedi Code that was highly unorthodox. Although Qui Gon would reject these teachings, under Dooku's influence, Qui-Gon developed a deep interest in prophecy, a teaching that was highly discouraged by the High Council. This caution stemmed from an ancient incident where several Jedi Masters tragically killed their Padawans due to misinterpreted Force visions. Nevertheless, Qui Gon continued his explorations, resulting in him finding the Chosen One.

Dooku taught Qui-Gon: “Sever your personal ties makes betrayal impossible”.
Qui-Gon taught Obi-Wan: “The worst thing about betrayal is that it always comes from a friend”.

Dooku and Qui-Gon's master-apprentice years are underrated af. It would be pretty fascinating to see a villain like Dooku as a firm but just master teaching the boy that would become one of the greatest Jedi the Order ever had. Too bad Legends only explored this era in one chapter of the "Legacy of the Jedi" light novel

As always, Dooku was a W teacher who gave his padawans super useful skills that they wouldn’t learn anywhere else. My man doesn’t miss 😎

He did also take the "question everything" lesson to heart

So you're telling me from a certain point of view that Anakin killing younglings was just him following ancient jedi practices.

He still held onto the idea of not blindly trusting & following the Jedi Council. Dooku actually gave him surprisingly good knowledge/caution in that regard.

It’s good to question everything, especially people with the most control & who you trust the most (even more-so when you ‘do their bidding’).

Qui-Gon, still my favorite Jedi after nearly 25 years.

Dooku raised Qui Gon as a son who is expected to surpass his father. A sons success is a fathers satisfaction. Qui Gon's killing broke Dooku's hopes and his heart, forcing him to turn to extreme measures to bring on the necessary change so Qui Gon's death, more so his life was a meaningful event.

Yeah that accident was during the time of the old republic, the danger they prophesied was Revan but due to misinterpretation they thought it was one of their own padawans, they killed all of them but one survived, that padawan was Zayne Carrick

Why does almost every younger art of Dooku look like Jedi Master Nick Cage?

Count Dooku and Cui Gon Jin are some of the most underrated star wars characters. Both have the best personalities with powerful force abilities.

A small, yet very appreciated, detail in this video is you explaining why the teaching was forbidden. All too often, reasons for barriers or challenges of a person's development in Star Wars are left at a simple obscure comment (like somehow, Palpatine returned). These reasons make it all the more interesting and immersive. It makes you desire to know the story within the story of the masters killing that young jedi

Qui Gon was such a good Jedi, that he's actually forgotten about for being so wise

“Qui Gon don’t research prophecy, a bunch of Jedi masters murdered their padawans because of it”

Qui Gon: *finds the chosen one through prophecy who goes on to murder younglings, padawans, knights and masters alike*

Not to side with the council or anything but they weren’t wrong

Highly recommend the side story about the masters killing their padawans. They saw basically what anakin saw and caused their doom.

1 min and the story of the Jedi killing padawans cause they misinterpreted a prophecy was better than all of Acolyte Season 1

It’s interesting that you say that, because it sounds like Dooku had a similar teaching style to Kreia in that they both taught their student to question everything, even the tenets of their order.

The funny thing, is that say JEDI that killed their Padawans and Younglings weren’t even officially part of the Jedi order
