Hermit Crabs changing shells

I put a large shell painted yellow out for a colony of hermit crabs. I read they often will form a chain from smallest to biggest and all the shells exchanged in order after the biggest one starts. I never thought I would witness it 😀🐚

I just read about how hermit crabs tend to actually sit and wait around a shell that is not a good fit for them and waiting for a another crab to take it to then take their shell. And they can sometimes be seen forming lines like in the video here
