Secret Gili Islands of Lombok - Gili Asahan, Gili Layar and Gili Gede

How to visit the secret Gili islands of Lombok? Yes, there are more Gili islands than Gili Air, Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno. In the south-west of Lombok you find a spot with several secret Gilis. Not many tourists are going to this place, so the islands are still really calm and a perfect place to relax almost alone on the beach. There are three secret Gilis we had in mind: Gili Layar, Gili Asahan and Gili Gede. We ended up going to Gili Asahan, because we found some stunning pictures of the island. Check out the video ;)

We absolutely loved that place. The hut where we stayed was perfect for us. You are so close to the beach, the restaurant is great (awesome breakfast) and for us the whole place is paradise.

There are a lot of activities you can do on Gili Asahan:
- You can get free kayaks or stand up paddle boards at the Eco Lodge.
- You can paddle around the island or visit small islands next to Gili Asahan.
- You can get free snorkeling equipment.
- You can book a day trip for snorkeling. We did that and loved it.
- You can do some little hikes to view points, an abandoned village or around the island.

So when you visit Lombok and you want to go a little more off the beaten track, visit the secret Gili islands. They are easy to reach from Kuta Lombok. We booked a driver on the streets of Kuta, who took us to the harbor Pantai Kores (this is the harbor you need to go to, if you want to visit Gili Asahan). Rides from Kuta to Pantai Kores cost between 300 and 500 Indonesian Rupiah.

I see the beaches are fairly dirty as well with lots of plastic floating/lying around. That really spoils it for me completely....
