Thanks for all the love on this video everyone. Just a couple mistakes I made in this video that you guys were nice enough to point out: The Citizen Nighthawk has a Japanese quartz movement and the Timex Marlin is a manually wound watch and not an automatic piece.

I am working on a video for watches from $300-$1, 000. The list is going to be packed!! If you have any recommendations for that I would appreciate your feedback.

Do not get a Daniel Wellington! There are a lot of great watches out there for the same price. Do some research and don’t waste your money on DW.

Teddy reminds me of Q from Skyfall and Spectre :0

Always still with the classics.
Seiko SKX007 is my go to watch.
It's like buying a pair of Adidas Stan Smiths or Nike Air Force can never go wrong with them.

These guides are AMAZING. I don’t have the budget to buy a lot of 1-3K+ watches, so it’s awesome to see a a few lovelies at lower price points that have history and style. Your higher range guides give me pieces to work toward and research on my own. Great work!

Have you considered a video on good/safe marketplaces to find collectible watches?

I got a timex day date for 50p from a house clearance, two tone, sunburst dial, just needed a new battery 😄

Man, it's refreshing to see some great choices that aren't fashion brands. A lot of great suggestions here. From the brands you looked at, I'd also add the Seiko SNK803, and 805 for much the same reasons as the 809, as well as the Timex Waterbury line. I'd add a good Vostok Amphibia as well, add on a new bezel and a nice strap and it's a unique and durable automatic dive watch. Also I think that Dan Henry has some good looking watches as well. I like the vintage inspired look of their chronographs and dive watch quite a lot.

Vostok Amphibia line are probably the best diver watches available under 1000. They're Russian made divers with a pretty good variety, and almost all of them go fro about $80 US. They are durable as hell, waterproof to about 200m, look fantastic on a NATO or stock strap, and are almost all automatics, which makes it one of the cheapest automatic watches you can buy. They were the first watch I ever bought, and I think everyone should at least take a look at them.

I personally own the citizen nighthawk eco drive. Can’t tell you how many people have commented on this thing. I loved it from the moment I saw it. And it has kept absolutely amazing time. And looks great with vintage leather straps. Highly recommend

Nice video, very informative for someone just beginning to engage in the "watch world". I've had a Citizen WR200 "Solar-Tech" my father gave me for my 18th birthday, and over 20 years later it still works and looks great!

I want to keep adding to the list of watches; what ones did I miss that you would recommend? Feel free to reach out to me directly if you need help!

Loved the video, wish you did more like this. Most of us don't have $500 - $1, 000 to drop on a watch. A couple of the watched on this list really piqued my interest, especially the Orient watches.

Great choices! One thing to bear in mind is the diameter of some of the watches on your list. I recently bought both the Seiko Snk793 and the Seiko snk809 and they are quite traditionally sized (36mm) - ie smallish compared to the average contemporary style of 40-46mm. You have to not care about size (no double entendre intended) when you wear these watches on your wrist. Especially noticeable in London where I live, where so many woman are now wearing 40+mm “boyfriend” watches. So if you’re insecure or a fashion junky maybe give them a miss. However the Seikos are amazing watches for the price and a nice change (and better quality) than the ubiquitous DWs. I especially love the Seiko snk809 as it is so versatile and has an iconic look with that flieger type B military dial.

I got the Orient Mako II in the Pepsi bezel. 10/10 for my first budget automatic diver. Got it for $150 and have not found any negatives yet. I also got the Casio Duro and also love it for a budget quartz. Threw it on a nato and is a great beater.

Make sure you buy a pair of pliers to turn the bezel should you choose the orient diver

Who would have thought Ferris Bueller would grow up so sophisticated and make such a great list... but there were no links in the description as promised.

Immaculate list! Thanks for sharing! I can also recommend the Phoibos Wave Master as a hefty summer watch. It's a 300m diver, stainless steel case and bracelet, featuring the Seiko NH35a movement. Sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel, for 200 bucks! Gonna throw it on a nato for when the sun decided to return. ;)
