My hood springs were getting a little weak after almost 70 years of use so I decided to try the gas lift supports route. Follow along as I try to explain how I accomplished this. A big thanks to B.S. Garage on YouTube for his inspiration.

I did this method on a 1949 chevy, with 15" shocks. Now that im doing a 1954 Chevy I'm thinking i should get the 18". Whats you option on using 18" shocks to get more lift?

How long is the gas lift, how many pounds or kilos lift??

This will not replace the springs. I wasted my money on the gas struts. Hood will not close properly without the springs.

Why did you change the location of the bottom mount?
