I once commented on how godly the storytelling was in Casey's videos, little did I know I was only watching the apprentice, now I've seen the master.

Once you become a Toyota guy, there is no going back. It’s like owning a classic Mopar from the 60s… There’s no way to describe that kind of feeling to someone who doesn’t have one. Toyota truck owners in particular all share a massive kinship and have an old school spirit of adventure.

I’m a 56 year old woman watching a video about a truck... and yet, I loved it.

What a magnificently put together video about a seemingly simple truck

Now, this is something. I thought I was wasting time in the YouTube rabbit hole, but I was actually digging to get into this masterpiece.

I'm so glad you're now on YouTube. You can tell your brother is influenced by your style, and that's a huge compliment for both of you. Keep on cranking out that content.

This is the first channel I have ever seen that I have felt like it was made just for ME. It just speaks to something deep inside me that I didn't even realize was even there really.

Van, in England we have the same thing but with old Land Rover Defenders. I couldn’t afford a high end rebuild so I bought an old one and have done it my self, bit by bit. A spirited man like your self is more that ready to take on a project like that, and I’ve no doubt your short films will inspire other people to take on big projects too

The quality of these videos and, more importantly, the story-telling, is everything I’ve needed in YouTube after watching various creators for the past 15 years.

Bought my ‘94 80 series as a lease return in ‘97 here in LA. Joined a newsgroup out of Australia while I was doing research and over the next 10 years learned almost everything there is to know about 80 series from this group. Then in 2011 I was brought down to Sydney to work on a film. The newsgroup was pretty much dormant as they had mostly moved to 100 series. I sent an email and they all chimed in, set up a reunion and took me on a short trip to the Wattigans. Great to meet them after all those years. Still have my 80 series.

Van, or mister Neistat, I’m sure most people wouldn’t be upset over you buying that ideal automobile. We love your work

The thing you need the most from that TLC specs is the anti rust coating on the chassis, which is powder coating. Then maybe the full floating axle and some minor mods for driving comfort. You could do it slowly. You almost certainly dont need the ls3 engine swap, the locking diffs are a waste if you dont go offroad often. Sound proofing, you can do it yourself. Haha. Bigger fuel tank, you can always bring a few jerry cans with you.

As a Miata owner that constantly contemplates spending ungodly amounts of money on an turnkey LS swap, I salute you.

Wow that scene from 4:38 to 5:07 felt like something right out of a 80's cigarette commercial! That was awesome.

Hey Van, so after I saw your video 2 years ago I've been grinding my teeth trying to convince myself it's a very bad idea to get a truck like this. Now I'm happy to announce I'm a proud owner of a 1998 4runner... Just about to dump a few thousand on repairs and then probably the rest of my time and money into 'restoring' it. So far feeling happier than ever 😁 Thanks for making me fall in love with toyota trucks.
