They'll stand in front of you sideways, forcing you to stop, and then they'll go forward, making sure it's safe, then stop and look back at you until you reach them. Then, they'll do it again. I did a plumbing repair at a wolf sanctuary. The pen was a large enclosure with rocks and higher areas for the wolves to lay. They were perfectly silent, stared and followed every move we made going back and forth to the truck without looking away at all, total focus. On the last trip past they all started howling almost simultaneously and all of the hair on my body stood on end. It was like a visceral oh crap I am about to get attacked by wolves reaction. I also never realized how big they were before that. Amazing animals, they are miles away from normal dogs.
