What did India achieve -

1. Terrorism was mentioned strongly and recognising JeM along with many other Islamic terrorist organization is a positive step towards Masood Azhar as UN designated terrorist
* However is this indicate a complete shift of China's policy for India vis a vis Pakistan is yet to be seen

2. Among 5 guests invited (Other Than BRICS countries) Pakistan was not invited. This indicate China already decided to go in favor of India on issue of terrorism
3. No mention of BRI in entire declaration which is good thing for India
4. Successful talk on credit rating agency(Having our own), solar alliance, development bank

Way ahead? -

* Along with big global issues like Climate, terrorism etc India and China need to increase cooperation in bilateral trade (Specially Indian pharma companies entry in China, Food export from India to China), river water sharing etc
* Sustainability of talk and trade is very important despite issues like Doklam keep coming. Let us not concentrate much on these issues and keep trade in parallel
* To build strong strategic partnership we need to enhance the senior and junior level officers meeting. Meeting of state leaders is essential but frequent meeting of these officers will ensure civil, military and people to people ties between both countries.

success nd failure depends upon what we were expecting from that.
and for me, it was a win - win game in this BRICS-2017, where we saw a policy make shift from China, yes it may take some time to see the real changes nd there is also ppssibilities that Chinese may alter their voice in future, but for now we got positive vibes and this is good for making policies for upcoming years.
